The Meet-Cute

A couple weeks into the first semester of freshman year, Zichong sat down next to Dana during a microeconomics lecture and said hello. It caught her by surprise and, according to Zichong, she looked like she was very annoyed. Dana, however, said hello since she recognized him from her other classes and the two started talking the entire lecture and completely forgot any information that was taught that day. Coincidentally, the two of them shared a lot of classes and so began a friendship where both of them would regularly hang out to either study, party, or explore NYC.

The First "It Wasn't a Date"

During their finals week in freshman year, Zedd was promoting his new album in New York City and had set up a scavenger hunt where winners would be able to attend an album release party at the top of the Empire State Building. Since Zichong and Dana had a shared love for EDM music, both of them agreed to attempt the scavenger hunt. Over the course of 5 hours, they had run around the entirety of Manhattan for over 13 miles and in the eleventh hour, won tickets to Zedd's album release party thanks to Dana's sprinting and sharp memory and Zichong's impressive knowledge of NYC landmarks and statues. That night, they saw Zedd perform and stayed out until 4 AM despite having a final the next morning. Lucky for them they did also ended up doing surprisingly well on their final!

The Highlights

Graduating from NYU Adopting their fluffy fur baby Bo Studying abroad in Prague and traveling all around Europe Traveling across Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand for 3 months after graduating Went skydiving (Dana decided to tag along hoping it would cure her fear of heights - it did not) Ran 13 miles around NYC to get tickets to Zedd's album release party the night before finals Going to concerts to see their favorite DJs across the US and Europe

The Proposal

On a nice spring weekend in April, Zichong and Dana were on their way to a quick escape from the city in the Catskills. Zichong, who was noticeably slightly more stressed that day, was secretly preparing everything he needed for a surprise proposal in the mini cabin they had rented for the weekend. On the drive up, Dana had commented how nice Zichong was dressed for a casual outdoorsy weekend while she herself was in her comfiest pair of leggings and clearly did not connect the dots as to what was going to happen. After they arrived, Zichong sent Dana out on a walk with their dog Bo while he set up the cabin with flowers and photos of their memories together over the last 7 years. When Dana came back, she found Zichong in the middle of the cabin getting down on one knee. She cried and happily said yes!
