San Luis Obispo Airport: Fly straight there San Fransisco: We would recommend flying up north if you have the time and driving down the 1 highway for the most scenic and iconic road trip. If you take the 101, the trip is between 3-4 hours. Taking the 1 will add a bit of time but be worth it to drive through Big Sur, one of our favorite places in California! LA: The 1 highway up is a gorgeous drive through Malibu, Ventura and Santa Barbara. Or the 101 to 154 will take you through a beautiful mountain pass and some cute wine towns (Solvang, Santa Ynez) Santa Barbara: Beautiful beach city full of upscale restaurants, wineries and boutiques. 1.5 - 2 hours Flights to each city seem to be within the similar price range, so it is up to you if you want to take a famous scenic west coast drive, or get to the wine country ASAP if you are thirsty!

Getting Around

Friday evening events will take place in downtown San Luis Obispo. The hotel is about a mile into town and a brisk walk away from all the bars and restaurants. There are also plenty of Ubers around SLO. We were told Ubering outside of the city is easy, you may just have to wait a bit to get picked up if you are outside of SLO.
