Travel Note
We are so excited for y'all to come celebrate our union with us! So we are providing ALL the transportation you will need on May 6th! Just make your way to the port (link) in Desenzano and our chartered boats will take you to the Isola del Garda. Then immediately following the nuptials, the boats will take you back to port. There, busses will take you to the Convento dell' Annunciata for the reception! As we have curated a fine wine and spirit experience for you, we highly discourage driving yourself to the Convento. Additionally the Convento is in a very secluded location with minimal to no parking.
Flight
For those traveling by plane, the nearest airports to reach Desenzano are Verona Catullo and Bergamo Orio al Serio. Many travelers also arrive in Desenzano from Milan Malpensa, Milan Linate and Venice Marco Polo terminals. From the airports taxi, car rental, bus and train services are moreover available to arrive in Desenzano.
Travel Note
This is the port where the boats we have chartered to take you to Isola del Garda will be! You can find a list of hotels that we recommend below, but please make sure they are close to this port. Or please plan to have your transportation close to this location, as this is where the busses will pick you up and drop you off after the reception.
Hotel
The very cute hotel is a ten minute walk from the port and has an excellent breakfast included! Right across the street is a fabulous restaurant with wonderful food, wine list, and a raspberry tiramisu to die for! The hotel is across the street from the beach and has the best view for sun sets and rises.
Hotel
This hotel is right across the street from the port, its literally a one minute walk! It is also centrally located in the main shopping district in the town. The downside is the parking is a public paid underground structure a five minute walk away (11 euro per day). Breakfast is included!
Hotel
The hotel also has breakfast included, parking is paid (12 euro per 1 day), and is a 2 minute walk from the port! The rooms here look a little smaller, but the prices reflect! The hotel is also only a 15-20 walk to the train station that can take you to Verona, Milan, or Venice!
Rental Car
Rental cars are very easy to get in Italy, but there are some important things that you need to know! 1. Be sure to ask for automatic if you need it! In Italy, manual is the standard, so double check before you select! 2. Italian streets are TINY! Even if your usual go to is an SUV (like me), parking/driving on tiny roads can be a nightmare. I would highly suggest going for a smaller car, especially if you plan on driving around the area. 3. Rental Car Insurance. Usually, I decline the offered insurance and go with my credit card's rental insurance since AMEX's is usually better and cheaper. However AMEX does NOT cover rentals in Italy. Chase Sapphire Reserve does cover Italian Cars. 4. You can drive in Italy as a tourist, as long as you have a valid US license, and either an International Driving Permit (IDP) issued by the AAA, or an official translation of your license in Italian. It's pretty easy to get your IDP either in person or by mail, for a fee of just 20 USD. 5. Europe has switched to USB-C ports! Make sure you have a cord that will work with your phone! Here is a helpful blog post that covers more! https://wise.com/us/blog/driving-in-italy-as-an-american#:~:text=You%20can%20drive%20in%20Italy,fee%20of%20just%2020%20USD.
