While you’re visiting the retreat center, take time to visit the donkey sanctuary on the edge of the Trinity Forest. Why does Trinity Retreat Center have donkeys? The six donkeys on site were saved from kill pens, and their rescue embodies the center's mission to be a refuge for those who need peace, comfort, and healing on life’s journey. You'll have the opportunity to pet and help feed the retreat center's donkeys and meet the other farm animals, including goats, chickens, and honeybees.
Just beyond the vegetable garden is the Waterfall Trail, a 2.5 mile hike featuring breathtaking views of a waterfall.
Keep walking down Lower River Rd and at its end, you'll see the Trinity Riverside Trail. As one of the longer trails at 3.5 miles, the peaceful sounds of the Housatonic River makes the hike pass by quickly.
Immerse yourself around trees that have been on this land for centuries, walking through the Trinity Forest Trail. This trail has two paths, one at 2.5 miles with a higher level of difficultly, and the other at 1.9 miles, with a nice view pause point along the Housatonic River.
Enjoy breathtaking views of the Housatonic River strolling down the Firefly Trail. Approximately 3.2 miles long, this trail has a wonderful rest point with a bench, for those who'd love a moment to sit surrounded by nature.
Check out a basketball from the Main House front desk, and enjoy a pick up game of basketball. If there's enough interest from guests, we can coordinate a time Saturday during the day for a pick-up game for anyone interested!
Enjoy a moment of introspection at the Labyrinth, located east of the Main House, right before reaching the Trinity forest trail.
