What Covid precautions are you taking?

Answer

We kindly ask that all in attendance who are age-eligible and do not have a legitimate medical reason to not do so be fully vaccinated to attend. Depending on current Covid conditions we may ask for proof of vaccination to enter the venue and request that masks be worn in the indoor portions of the venue. We are planning for the event to be fully outdoors. Thank you for being kind and considerate as we plan for an event that is safe for all to attend. Why are there 2 different dates on my save the date?

Answer

Our original plan was to get married on 2.20.21 with all of our family and friends surrounding us. However, Covid-19 interrupted this plan. In the spirit of new traditions in these unprecedented times, we will be married in a micro-wedding ceremony on our original date, and are celebrating our 1 year anniversary and reception in 2022

what is this flower child situation

Answer

We figured that kids have missed out on so much over the past few years that we didn't want to choose a few flower children, but instead wantred to give any interested children the opportunity to chuck flowers for the fun of it! Interested children (and adult children with compelling arguments) should meet by the Stillwell house gate to line up for the entrance processional at 3:15. No special attire required

Where will the reception be?

Answer

The reception will be in Downtown Tucson at the Stillwell House. This weekend is during the Tucson Gem and Mineral Show so we recommend securing a place to stay as far in advance as possible

Answer

We were so thankful for all the thoughtful gifts and mementos we received last year! For the reception, all we ask is that we get to see your beautiful faces

Where does the name Shanks come from?

Answer

We have both chosen to adopt the last name of Kira's maternal grandparents Merrill and Patricia Shanks on the day of our marriage. We have done so in the spirit of entering into our marriage as equals as we start a family of our own. We aspire that our marriage will be as happy and as long as the OG Shanks.
