The DIA has been awarded best art museum in the US several times over the last few years. While the building itself is beautiful, it also has many exhibits and works that will take your breath away. Tickets are only $20 for those who are not Detroit area residents.
This beautiful island is right in the Detroit River between Canada and Detroit. Did you know that Detroit is the only area where you can look south on Canada!? This island is nice breath of fresh air from the city and boasts cool architecture, wildlife, and a great view of the city skyline. Be sure to check out the aquarium, conservatory, and nature center.
This tiny park is the heart of downtown and has been named the No.1 "Public Square" by USA Today. While only a short walk from the hotel, this area is surrounded by restaurants, bars, and all the shopping you need in the city. Additionally, this is the location of the only beach in Detroit so be sure to grab your favorite Caribbean cocktail or a bucket of beers at the bar and put your feet in the sand as you watch that week's movie in the park or pick out Detroit's finest muscle cars.
If you're in the mood to explore, Eastern Market is a must-visit! Recognized as the largest historic public market in the United States, this open-air market is packed with fresh produce, local goods, flowers, art and good music. Wander through the colorful buildings, grab a coffee, hit up a food truck or enjoy a beer at Eastern Market Brewery.

If you like very strong drinks, a solid grilled cheese, and a tight fit with an eclectic atmosphere, this place is for you! One of our favorite spots downtown for a late night snack and some solid live music. Please be sure to have a chat with Charles as he finds you a table or place to sit. Please note that they are only open Friday and Saturday.
Detroit is the Pizza capital of the world! All jokes aside, Domino's, Little Caesars, Hungry Howie's, Jet's and many others all call Detroit home. Buddy's Pizza however is credited with the founding of Detroit style pizza. As best described by Dave Portnoy, Detroit style pizza "should look heavy like an offensive lineman, but feel light on its feet."
Get ready to lean into Detroit's culinary delicacy - a hot dog covered with meat sauce, onions, and yellow mustard. Lafayette Coney Island is the place where the coney dog reigns supreme! Come for the dogs, stay for the no-frills/simple meal and the feeling that you have officially done Detroit right.
