Question

Where should I park for the ceremony?

Answer

Parking for the ceremony is located on Learned Street, directly across from the church. Please tell the parking attendant you are there for the Shaffer/Rowell wedding. The church is an 8 minute walk from the reception parking structure if you are feeling active! Please note the church parking lot will close at 6PM and will not re-open until Sunday morning.

Where should I park for the reception?

Answer

Parking for our reception will be validated. Be sure to park at Beaubien Place Garage - located at 238 Beaubien Street, Detroit MI, 48243. There is a foot bridge on the 2nd floor that will give you direct access into the building.

Making your way to The Highlands:

Answer

Please note that our venue is on the 72nd floor of the building, serviced by three specific elevators. See below instructions for finding your way - ushers will also be on hand to assist with locating the correct spot. From the Parking Structure, Usage of Escalators: Once you enter the building, you will then proceed straight ahead and will walk around the blue circular wall and will find escalators. Please take two escalators up to the third level. You will then walk around another circular wall and will find "The Highlands" host stand; please tell the host you are here for the Rowell/Shaffer wedding. They will send you up to the 72nd floor. From the Parking Structure, Usage of Elevators: Once you enter the building, you will turn to the right and will walk until you see an arrow pointing toward the "Marriott Guest Elevators". There will be glass doors at the entrance of the overpass to your left. You will see a Starbucks and a big red gumball machine at the entrance of the elevators. Take the elevator up to level three. Once you have arrived, turn to your right or left to exit the elevator lobby are and you will see glass doors to the entrance of "The Highlands" host stand. Please tell the host you are here for the Rowell/Shaffer wedding. They will send you up to the 72nd floor. If you have any questions on navigating the building when you enter, there will be a security guard at the entrance of the second level bridge. If you ask "which way to The Highlands?", they will be able to direct you the correct way.

What is the dress code?

Answer

We kindly ask guests to dress in formal attire for our special day. We encourage you to break out your suit and tie, floor-length gown, cocktail dress or dressy separates. Above all, we want you to feel confident, comfortable, and ready to celebrate with us!

Are children invited to the wedding?

Answer

We respectfully request that our wedding be an event for adults only.
