Some things last forever after all Credit: @emilyserrellphoto
Four years ago, in the summer of 2018, at a little bar in midtown Atlanta we met for the first time at Cypress Pint & Plate after a right swipe on the dating app Bumble put us in connection. Dinner was followed by a quick walk through midtown and of course, a few old fashions. Conversation was easy as we both quickly discovered we had many similar interests including sports, adventure, traveling, music and food. I insisted that I was independent and didn't need Stephen to walk me to my car, but his persistence won me over and we said our goodbyes not realizing the spark we had just ignitied. Shortly after this our connection turned into a whirlwind summer filled with concerts, lake days and baseball games soon becoming inseperable. In the fall of 2018 I graduated with my masters and took a job in Macon, GA. Stephen and I moved from Atlanta to Macon for a year while I worked as a Nurse Practitioner in the ICU and Stephen also took a new job as well. We got our fur baby, Zeus who turned 3 this year on May 5th. Despite all the fun and travel, we missed our friends and the buzz of the big city so we moved back to Atlanta in January of 2020 where we still reside today. This past year, we traveled to Whistler Canada for an annual ski trip. If you know Stephen then you know he loves skiing and that there is nowhere he loves doing it more than at his favorite place in the whole world, Whistler, Canada. It was the Thursday before we left and Stephen asked me to go to breakfast (bright and early of course) so he could hit the slopes early. I didn't argue but I wasn't thrilled to bundle up to eat at 0730. We get to the parking lot, which isn't crowded at all, and he asks me to go on a walk down by a frozen lake. As we walk on the trail it was a beautiful blue bird morning and the ground glistened like diamonds. As we approached the lake, I noticed a person sitting on a log. A few sketchy thoughts ran through my mind but Stephen re-assured me. It was there by the edge of the lake surrounded by the beautiful Whistler and Blackcomb mountains, that he asked me to marry him! After I blacked out and realized what was happening, I said YES! And surprise the sketchy person turned out to be our amazing photographer that Stephen had arranged. Please watch the video above that our amazing photographer made for us on that gorgeous morning. We have had many highs and successes, but we both have also experienced loss in our families over the past few years. We have navigated a pandemic together and only have learned to love stronger. We are thrilled you have chosen to celebrate our love with us and look forward to this moment with you all. Love, Heather & Stephen
