How We Met

When a Co-worker played Cupid

On October 3rd, 2023, Layla’s coworker showed her a picture of a guy she thought would be perfect for her. The moment Layla saw him, her heart skipped a beat, and she knew she had to meet him. “Hell yes, give him my number,” she said without hesitation. Later that day, Dakota reached out with a simple, “Hey, this is Dakota,” and just like that, a new chapter began.

First Dates

A first date made of crafts and comfort food

For their very first date, Dakota and Layla went on a little adventure together. They started at Hobby Lobby, hunting for the perfect shadow box and Christmas ornaments, laughing and enjoying every moment. After their crafty mission, they treated themselves to something delicious—Costco pizza! Simple, sweet, and perfectly them, it was a first date neither would ever forget

After the First Date

When truck dates weren't enough, forever became the plan

Dakota loved surprising Layla with little gestures of love—coffee, flowers, and sweet notes—while she was at work. Since Layla worked the swing shift and hadn’t yet introduced Dakota to Charlie, they got creative, having mini “dates” in Dakota’s work truck during her breaks. Her coworkers couldn’t help but smile at the sight; they were thrilled she had found someone as special as Dakota and would happily cover for her until she returned. As their love grew, Layla and Dakota realized they wanted to spend even more time together. So, Layla switched to the day shift, leaving behind the tiny truck dates, though she secretly loved those moments. Every little adventure, big or small, made their bond stronger and their hearts even closer.

The L word

143

On February 26th, 2024, Layla couldn’t keep her feelings inside any longer. She looked at Dakota and said, “I love you.” Thankfully, Dakota felt the same way and replied, “I love you too.” From that moment on, their hearts were inseparable. And honestly… if Dakota had a nickel for every time Layla has said “I love you” since then, their wedding budget would be practically endless!

Blending Families

Two hearts, One home, and a family made whole

After six months of sharing their lives, Dakota and Layla both knew it was time to take the next step: introducing each other to their kids. Layla met Aiden, and Dakota met Charlie, and the connections were instant. Later, when the kids met each other, sparks of friendship flew—they loved playing together and bonding over music, creating a little blended family full of laughter, love, and joy

To being " Official" and To being engaged

Our Favorite day, twice as meaningful

On March 14th, 2024, as the sun rose over Myrtle Beach, Dakota asked Layla to officially be his girlfriend. It was a quiet, magical moment, just the two of them watching the day begin together. Exactly one year later, on what Layla thought would just be a simple one-year anniversary photo shoot, Dakota surprised her in Arizona with a proposal she would never forget. From a promise at sunrise to a lifetime commitment, their love story kept growing more beautiful with every chapter
