Quiet beach close to Noia with parking and a bar. Easy access to neighboring beaches, Praia de Boa Pequeña and Testal. Be sure to check the tides before your visit! There are plenty of other beaches along the southern stretch of the ria to explore. Others include Praia das Gaviotas, Praia de Coira in Portosín, Praia de Aguieira, and Praia de Caveiro near Porto do Son. Most have parking and restaurants nearby.
Romans once thought Fisterra / Finisterre was the end of the world. Now it serves as the true terminus of the Camino de Santiago, where pilgrims watch the sunset and burn their clothes (in theory) to commemorate their journey. It was also previously thought to be the westernmost point in Spain but that is incorrect - the true title holder is Cabo Touriñán, further north on the Costa da Morte.
The cathedral is the focal point of the Camino de Santiago, purportedly houses the remains of St. James the Apostle, and is mind-bogglingly ornate. We recommend booking a tour to see the dizzying array of stone carvings, paintings, and relics.
Santiago's market is incredible. Mondays through Saturdays 7am-3pm, the halls are packed with an overwhelming display of freshly caught fish and shellfish, local produce, cheeses, wines & meats. Tip: it gets extremely crowded on Saturdays, be sure to plan accordingly.
Pablo's alma mater is one of the oldest universities in Spain and - as he likes to remind Cynthia - predates the founding of the United States by nearly three hundred years. A guided tour is not necessary, but will take you through a detailed history of the university's medieval buildings.
