In 2011, on a hot summer night in Brooklyn, Cynthia walked up the street to Lulu's—a bar that she went to almost every night, that was messy & fun & without a doubt NOT the place she thought she'd meet someone she'd consider marrying (RIP Lulu's)—to see her friend Marco, who was visiting from Michigan. He bought her a drink, and asked her to carry one for his friend who was also visiting and had recently moved from Michigan to Philadelphia after a two-week cross country bike trip. Enter Jeff: quiet & mysterious & handsome. Later that night, Jeff stepped outside for a cigarette. Cynthia followed, faking a phone call to give herself a reason to be out there. They talked about music and they made each other laugh. The following night they went on their first date, and they're still talking music and making each other laugh.
After spending some time growing & learning & getting better (both individually and together), Jeff proposed to Cynthia in front of Hawk Falls in the Poconos Mountains while on a hike—a testament to their commitment to always including nature in their lives.
