Nature Options

Great Falls Park, Riverbend Park, and Algonkian Park - these parks offer easy hiking along the Potomac River with great views. Parking is free, but can get full quickly on nice days. Harpers Ferry - in addition to a variety of hiking trail difficulties, the Lower Town (where most hikes originate from) includes historic sites to visit like John Brown's Fort ($20/vehicle). Shenandoah National Park/Skyline Drive - Skyline Drive is a scenic parkway that winds through the Blue Ridge Mountains in Shenandoah Valley. In October, the leaves will be turning color and make the views even more gorgeous. Entrance for Skyline Drive, its overlooks and the hiking trails are included in the National Parks pass, or you can pay the one-time fee ($30/vehicle).

Visit Washington DC

All the Monuments and the Smithsonian Museums are free - including the Zoo! There are several neighborhoods that have day and night life including Adams Morgan, The Wharf, U Street, Union Market, Georgetown, and more!
