Hotel
This is the venue where all of our guests will stay with us for the full wedding weekend. No need to contact the venue as we have already blocked the space for everyone who RSVPs. We will reach out to handle payment directly with you. Cost per room for the weekend will be $840 ($280/night)
Travel Note
You have two options for flights that make the most sense for our venue. Florence Airport is the closest in proximity, but you'll likely have connections if traveling from the US. While Rome Airport will give you more flight flexibility but a longer drive to the venue. Note that Italian immigration requires that your passport be valid for at least 3 months after your departure date from Italy.
Flight
Florence is your best bet for shortest drive to the wedding venue as its about a 40-minute drive to site and a beautiful city to stop at on the way out if you have extra time!
Flight
Rome has the most flight options and likely cheaper tickets, but the downside is you'll have a multi-hour journey to our wedding venue. More details in "Ground Transport from Rome" below.
Travel Note
Borgo Petrognano is a 40-minute drive from Florence. There is plenty of parking at the venue so if you're comfortable renting a car we recommend doing that as it also gives you flexibility to explore the surrounding Tuscan countryside. Plus, who doesn't want to rent a convertible Fiat Cinquecento and cruise around with your hair blowing in the sunshine and fresh air of the Italian countryside? You can also take a taxi from Florence to Borgo Petrognano. Scheduling a taxi back to the city will require you to book in advance, which the hotel can help with.
Travel Note
Borgo Petrognano is a 3-hour drive from Rome. The drive from Rome to the venue goes through the Italian countryside and is absolutely beautiful. You could even stop along the way in charming towns such as Siena, San Gimignano, or Cortona, where the movie "Under the the Tuscan Sun" was filmed. Alternatively, you could take a train from Rome to Florence, which takes 1.5 hours by high speed train or 3.5 hours by regional train, and then take a taxi or drive to Borgo Petrognano.
Rental Car
Driving in Italy is fairly simple, especially between cities. However, in the main city centers there are Zona Traffico Limitatos, or ZTLs, which are restricted driving zones where only cars with special permits are allowed. Pay close attention to signage as you enter any city, and park outside of these zones to avoid fines. You can find a map of the various parking lots in Florence by clicking the "View" button below. You should reserve a car online ahead of time. There are tons of options available including Hertz, Enterprise, Europcar, Sixt, and Thrifty. If you need an automatic-transmission make sure you select a rental option that specifies "Automatic" and be sure to inform the rental agent as most cars are manual. NOTE: If you do not have international cellular data, get a GPS. You don't want to get lost on the way to see yours truly...or maybe you do?
