Knoxville, TN is the closest major city to the Pigeon Forge area. It is only an hour drive from the airport to downtown pigeon forge.

Cabins vs Hotels

Cabins have a reputation of being more expensive than the usual hotel room. However we have found several cabin agencies in Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Sevierville that offer cabin stays around the same price as a hotel room in town. If you are comfortable driving in the mountains and want some quiet time together or a fun family cabin for the weekend, then we highly suggest a cabin! If you would like to spend the weekend walking to the local bars and shops then we suggest staying in one of the many hotels in town. We have done both options and you can't go wrong with either pick! There are large parking lots available in town so you can still walk to all of the restaurants and shops and then drive back to your cabin at the end of the night.

Cabin rentals

We rented the "Hillbilly Highrise Cabin" on Vacasa for our first trip to the Smoky Mountains. This was a beautiful mountain with many vacation rentals but it was also very quiet and relaxing. Nothing compares to waking up to a view of the mountains from your balcony. I have attached a search for cabins in the Pigeon Forge area for reference.
