It's safer than Virginia (and most U.S. states)! France currently has a 78% vaccination rate, while Virginia is currently at 72%. Be sure to bring your masks for the flight.
Yes, but hurry! Currently, there are longer than usual wait-times for passports. You might want to consider paying the extra $20 to expedite your passport application/renewal. And make sure that your passport is not set to expire within six months of your departure date!
Yes! France requires all incoming travelers to provide proof that you are fully vaccinated (this includes a booster within 9 months of initial vaccination). For entry to restaurants, hotels, etc. you will need to download the French "TousAntiCovid" app and apply for an EU vaccination certification QR code. Here is a link to apply for your French Covid Vaccination Certification: https://www.diplomatie.gouv.fr/en/coming-to-france/coming-to-france-your-covid-19-questions-answered/applying-for-a-vaccine-pass-if-you-were-vaccinated-abroad-procedure-for-non/ You may also be required to test negative before boarding a plane back to the U.S. Testing sites are easy to find and many pharmacies have walk-up tents. You can also schedule a test at a pharmacy in advance. I will send out an email with more specific information about pharmacy scheduling closer to our wedding date!
I would suggest renting a car at the airport. For this you will need an international driving permit. These are easy to apply for and only cost $20. Here is the link through AAA: https://www.aaa.com/vacation/idpf.html ***Ask your hotel/host about parking. Not all hotels/hosts provide any parking*** You can also travel by train. The train around the South of France is much slower, so I would not suggest it for longer journeys. The nearest stop is in Carnoles, 15 minutes by foot from Roquebrune. There are also a number of taxi services in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Monaco.
For Casino Monte Carlo: During the day, slacks and a nice shirt, dresses, and skirts are appropriate.
