We thought about having it in Thailand so that all our friends near and far would have an equal chance of making–and not making–it. However, Carolyn's grandparents aren't able to travel and she is their first grandchild to get married.
David and Carolyn are back in North America for one year, as Carolyn had been overseas for 6 years and was due for a sabbatical. However, 6 months of the sabbatical year is allotted to "home assignment," where they are still working from home, and the other 6 months is allotted to resting. So they decided to work first, get married in the middle in February, and then rest for the first 6 months of their marriage. Perfect timing!
For those of you unfamiliar with Alberta, CHECK THE WEATHER FORECAST DAILY. We have no way of knowing ahead of time if there will be a snowstorm or if the snow will have melted. Sign up for our intercession team for the weather! Just kidding; but seriously, pray that it'll be beautifully snowy, not icy and warm (yes, all those things are possible at once). Also, you might like to watch "What are the winters like in Edmonton?" at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cg8yrt85zZI
Don't ask Carolyn; she hasn't been around since her adult life began. (Can anyone help with this question!?) But, here are a few things she can think of (you will have to search them up yourself to learn more): - Fort Edmonton Park - West Edmonton Mall - Royal Alberta Provincial Museum - Tour the Alberta Legislature Building (Edmonton is the capital of Alberta) - Ice Castles - Build a snowman (works best when the temperature is above 0˚c) - Hiking the ravine trails - Going skating or skiing - Enjoy the clean air, quiet surroundings and wide spaces
You can request this on your RSVP form, and we will try to make it work!
Search online for "hotels near golden rice bowl restaurant edmonton" for options. Royal Lodge (4.2 very good review) or Derrick Motel (3.2 fair review) are cheaper motels. Or you may want to book an Airbnb (rented out homestay spaces) in the South Edmonton area; go to https://www.airbnb.ca/a/Edmonton--Alberta--Canada
Yes.
We prefer cash gifts as we will be moving back overseas 6 months after our wedding. But as long as that is kept in mind, we would be happy to receive non-cash gifts! We will visit our North American homes probably once or twice a year.
No, he's already maxed out. It's probably just that every time you see him again, you're re-shocked by how skinny he is. And no, eating more has no effect on him (this makes Carolyn feel bad).
At least two years. Our temporary life on Earth is too short and exciting to be planned out of our limited human understanding, so we're going to have to let God lead us, until one day we get to chill with him forever in Heaven. Whooo!!
