How they make kale and spinach taste so good is beyond us. This is our "#1 not-overrated place" to go in Austin. Multiple locations around town, so drop by whichever one is convenient. Josh's favorite are "Paradise Found" and "Wundershowzen". Crystal has never had a drink she doesn't love, but recommends the "Peachy Green".
Crux Climbing Center
Our local climbing gym. Mention Josh & Crystal to the front desk and ask them to use one of our first-time-free visitor guest passes, comes with shoes and gear!
Barton Creek Greenbelt
There are many different trail heads to get on the greenbelt, but it's mostly great because of the ease of access within city limits. Go for a hike, swim, climb, hammock, bike, etc.
DEE DEE - Northern Thai Street Food
It's spicy, so be warned. Find this authentic food truck in the back of Radio Coffee & Beer (another local favorite). The Pad Gaprow is our favorite!
Texas Capitol
Welcome to Texas. Entrance is free, and lines to enter are much shorter around the back!
Congress Avenue Kayaks
Many places to rent kayak/stand-up paddleboards around the lake. They charge hourly.
Cosmic Coffee + Beer Garden
lots of outdoor seating, food trucks, local garden, and shares the same parking lot as Crux Climbing Center.
Austin Eastciders Collaboratory
Like hard-cider? Check 'em out.
South Congress Avenue
Walkable view of downtown + the capitol, with classic Austin restaurants such as Torchy's, Hopdoddy, and Homeslice Pizza, quirky shops, and more. Go check out Allen's boots for a glimpse of cowboy heaven. I guess they also have scooters now for easy transportation.. if you're into that.
Pennybacker Bridge
A quick hike up the side of this bridge will give you a fantastic view of the lake and city. This is our favorite spot to take visitors because it's so easy to get to, and a beautiful view.
