Crystal and Zane met on Bumble in November 2021. Zane lived in Scotts Valley, and Crystal in San Jose. Their first date was at a small Thai restaurant in Los Gatos, where they laughed over their mutual love of Pad Thai, and their favorite drink, a Moscow Mule. After dinner, they walked around downtown for hours; time flew by as the talking got deeper, sharing about their interests, life plans, and families. They cuddled close in the November cold on a park bench and when Zane finally walked Crystal back to her car, he shyly gave her a small peck on the lips, before sheepishly darting away. It was a super cute moment. Even though they both went to school at UC Santa Cruz during the same time, even sharing a mutual friend. They wonder to this day if their paths crossed and they never knew it. Even though they had only known each other a short time, two months later Zane invited Crystal on a trip to Mt. Shasta. After 12 hours and 700 miles they still hadn’t run out of things to talk about, and more importantly hadn’t gotten sick of each other. However, by the end of the trip, they literally did get sick with Covid. A one week vacation turned into two more weeks of quarantining together, and from that moment forward they continued to spend almost every day together. Zane shared his love of the outdoors and video games, and Crystal planned amazing trips and concerts for them to experience together. In the summer of 2023 they spent a whole month traveling Mexico with Crystal’s sister Carla. They toured through Jalisco, Mexico City, and Oaxaca, taking overnight buses and planes across the country. Zane was able to meet Crystal’s family and immerse himself in Mexican culture. With the help of Sir Duo, Zane has become almost fluent in Spanish, although he is shy to admit it. On March 7, 2024, Zane proposed to Crystal at Wilder Ranch in Santa Cruz, the location of their second date. He had planned a picnic, complete with tiny champagne flutes and music. As the sun began to set, he took out their polaroid camera to take a selfie. With the film still developing as a distraction, he popped the ring and the question. Overwhelmed with joy, she said yes and the next Polaroid was their first as an engaged couple. Now, they are excitedly planning their wedding and looking forward to their future together, filled with love, adventure, and countless more Moscow Mules.

Su primera cita fue en un pequeño restaurante tailandés en Los Gatos, donde rieron juntos por su amor mutuo al Pad Thai y su bebida favorita, el Moscow Mule. Después de cenar, caminaron por el centro de la ciudad durante horas; el tiempo pasó volando mientras hablaban más a fondo sobre sus intereses, planes de vida y familias. Se acurrucaron en el frío de noviembre en una banca del parque, y cuando Zane finalmente acompañó a Crystal de regreso a su auto, tímidamente le dio un pequeño beso en los labios antes de alejarse rápidamente y con vergüenza. Fue un momento súper tierno. Aunque ambos estudiaron en la UC Santa Cruz al mismo tiempo e incluso compartían un amigo en común, hasta el día de hoy se preguntan si alguna vez cruzaron caminos sin saberlo. A pesar de haberse conocido por poco tiempo, dos meses después Zane invitó a Crystal a un viaje al Monte Shasta. Después de 12 horas y 700 millas, todavía no se habían quedado sin temas de conversación y, lo más importante, no se habían cansado el uno del otro. Sin embargo, al final del viaje, literalmente sí se enfermaron de Covid. Lo que iba a ser unas vacaciones de una semana se convirtió en dos semanas más de cuarentena juntos, y desde ese momento comenzaron a pasar casi todos los días juntos. Zane compartió su amor por la naturaleza y los videojuegos, mientras que Crystal planeaba increíbles viajes y conciertos para que disfrutaran juntos. En el verano de 2023, pasaron un mes entero viajando por México con la hermana de Crystal, Carla. Recorrieron Jalisco, la Ciudad de México y Oaxaca, tomando autobuses nocturnos y aviones por todo el país. Zane pudo conocer a la familia de Crystal y sumergirse en la cultura mexicana. Con la ayuda de Sir Duo, Zane se ha vuelto casi fluido en español, aunque le da vergüenza hablarlo por miedo a pronunciar algo mal. El 7 de marzo de 2024, Zane le propuso matrimonio a Crystal en Wilder Ranch, en Santa Cruz, el lugar de su segunda cita. Había planeado un picnic, completo con copas de champán y música. Cuando el sol comenzaba a ponerse, sacó su cámara Polaroid para tomarse una selfie. Con la foto aún revelándose como distracción, sacó el anillo y le hizo la gran pregunta. Llena de emoción, Crystal dijo que sí, y la siguiente foto de la Polaroid fue su primera como pareja comprometida. Ahora, están emocionados planeando su boda y esperando con ansias su futuro juntos, lleno de amor, aventuras y muchos más Moscow Mules.
