How We Met

As 21st century as it sounds, we met through the dating app Tinder! Soon after we swiped right, we started messaging each other. It started off as just basic conversation but soon we started talking pretty much all day, everyday. After getting each other's number and texting for awhile, we started talking on the phone. We realized that just talking wasn't enough but that we wanted to actually meet each other in person.

Our First Date

Our first date happened to be the first time we actually met in person as well. We met down by the water in Tacoma without much of a plan. After spending an hour getting to know each other, we both knew we didn't want this date to end, and after two more hours, we still couldn't get enough of each other. Overall our first date spanned throughout the whole day as we walked along the water, went out to lunch, went to a movie and finally took a drive chasing the sunset.

Our Engagement

Much like our whole relationship, Travis never disappoints in anything that he does for me. Our engagement was no exception. We had been talking about marriage for awhile (at this point, we'd been together for 4 years) and it was pretty clear we both were insanely in love with each other and were ready for this next step. So after we went ring shopping, I was basically just waiting for him to propose. But month after month, he never did it. Soon, I kind of forgot about the ring and was too busy thinking about our upcoming trip with the whole family to Singapore. Throughout the cruise we were running around going to dinners and doing various activities around the ship. I had an inkling he might pop the question there but for the first few days in our trip, he never did. So again, I thought he must be picking a different time. That wasn't until we went on our own beautiful excursion off the boat in Thailand. Our excursion was going through sea caves in canoes. My parents had joined us as well and we were all ready for an exciting adventure. Towards the end of the excursion, we all had time to relax on this beautiful island where we waded out into the water and laid out on the beach. When it was time to go, Travis asked me to take another picture which I thought was a little strange because we had taken so many pictures that day. I'll admit I was a little annoyed at that moment since it was hot and I wanted to go back to the cruise but as soon as my mom finished taking the picture and I turned toward Travis, he was down on one knee with the most beautiful diamond ring I had ever seen in his hands. I remember almost losing feeling in my legs as I burst out crying. I could barely hear him say " Will you marry me?" over my sobs but I already knew the answer before he even asked. After I said "YES!" he slipped the ring on my finger and I immediately jumped into his arms. Travis picked the beaches of Thailand in front of my parents as his proposal spot and I don't think it could be much better than that. I can truly say that, that was one of the happiest moments of my life but I know we will have many many more moments like that in our lives.
