Crissy and Jorge have tried to capture and answer common questions. If you have other questions not addressed below or further inquiry about the answers to those questions. Question

What time should I arrive to the ceremony?

Answer

Please plan to arrive 30 to 45 minutes prior to the start time of the wedding (2:00 PM) so that you can get settled in before the proceedings. Traffic can be very heavy please keep an eye on traffic conditions from your accommodations to the church. Please allow time to park and enter the front doors of the cathedral with the checkered floor entrance.

How do I get to the wedding ceremony venue?

Answer

Depending on your accommodations, please head to downtown Charleston. Grace Church Cathedral 98 Wentworth Street Charleston, SC 29401

Question

Will there be Communion/ Holy Eucharist served during the wedding ceremony?

Answer

Yes, all baptized Christians, regardless of denomination, are welcome to take Communion in the Episcopal Church. If for any reason, you do not want to receive Communion, you are still invited to come forward, kneel, and cross your arms over your chest. The priest will say a prayer of blessing for you. Please contact Crissy with any additional questions.

What is the dress code? What should I wear to the ceremony?

Answer

The wedding is early. 2:00PM early... Men, you may opt to wear a morning suit or regular suit. No jeans and cargo. Feel free to wear your "Black Tie Preferred" attire if you do not want to change for the reception. Ladies, Sundresses, floral prints, suits in lighter hues. Ladies, fun hats and fascinators are encouraged. Please no jeans, no white, off-white ivory dresses/gowns/suites. Feel free to wear your "Black Tie Preferred" attire if you do not want to change for the reception.

Answer

Reception is Black-Tie Preferred: Tuxes and gowns are preferred, but not required. Suits and formal cocktail dresses are okay. Where can I park for the wedding ceremony?

Answer

Parking can be found half a block away from the church at Wentworth Garage at 12 St Philip St, Charleston, SC 29424. There are a few parking spots in the back of the church. Please do not park on Wentworth Street in front of the church. If you are in need of special assistance please contact Crissy at 910-547-2794 and she can try to acccomate parking assistance for you.

Where can I park for the wedding reception

Answer

Valet is free! Just let them know you have arrived for the Diaz/Pahl Wedding Reception

Will the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception take place indoors or outdoors?

Answer

Ceremony: Indoors, but is a very large church. Feel free to socially distance. Cocktail Hour: Outdoor Rooftop (If inclement weather, will be brought inside.) Reception: Indoors, The rooftop will be available for continued enjoyment.

Can I bring my kids?

Answer

Due to space constraints, Crissy and Jorge are unable to accommodate children outside of the wedding party. Below we have found local Charleston area sitting services to assist. Please contact Crissy if you have additional questions or inquiries. Can I take pictures during the ceremony?

Answer

Photography is not allowed inside the Cathedral. With that said Crissy and Jorge request your eyes, ears, and presence as they take this beautiful sacrament. They kindly ask that all phones are turned off or in airplane mode. They have hired photographers and videographers to capture you, them, and all of the moments of the day and evening! The no photography clause is within their contract with the Grace Church Cathedral. Please help them uphold their end to the agreement.

Can I take pictures during the reception?

Answer

Yes, please be mindful of photographers roaming the venue and taking photos during moments of the reception. Please stand to the side of the photographers so that they can capture their shots. If you are within the frame, the Bride and Groom are requesting that your beautiful face is captured and not your phone or camera covering your face. If you do not wish to be photographed, please kindly step out of the frame.

Will there be an open bar? UPDATED 5/9/22

Answer

Each guest will receive 4 drink coins and then a CASH ONLY bar after. NO CREDIT/DEBIT. These can be used on alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks at cocktail hour and after dinner. There will be water and lemonade that you can help yourself to out on the veranda. During dinner, wine, champagne, water, tea, and lemonade will also be served at dinner. Jorge and Crissy ask you to be wise and not drink and drive. Please consider staying at the resort or use a Lyft/RideShare/Taxi service to transport you safely back to your accommodations. Your safety is our priority. If you need assistance during the event please reach out to event staff for assistance.

I have dietary restrictions/allergies. What's the best way to let you know?

Answer

For guests who are gluten-free or have other dietary restrictions and/or allergies please let Crissy know of your dietary restrictions on your RSVP card. Crissy will address them with the caterer. You may also reach out to Crissy directly with any concerns.

Where do I sit at the Ceremony?

Answer

Traditionally Brides Family and Friends sit on the left and Grooms family and friends sit on the right. Please let the ushers know your relation to the bride and groom so that they can find you a wonderful seat to share this moment with Crissy and Jorge. If you are not on the correct side that's okay, the Bride and Groom are happy you are in attendance witnessing their receiving the sacrament of marriage.

Have you booked hotel room blocks for guests?

Answer

Sorry, for everyone's comfort a room block has not been arranged because friends and family have different needs. Please see Wedding Letter sent out in August 2021 for advice and recommendations. Please reach out to Crissy with any additional questions.

Where do I sit at the Reception?

Answer

There will be assigned seating for the plated dinner. We kindly ask that you do not change place cards as there are many dietary restrictions amongst guests and everyone's safety is a priority. The Bride and Groom are also informed of the seating chart so that they can easily find you during dinner.

What's the best way to RSVP?

Answer

Invitations will be sent in March 2022 via good old fashion snail mail. Please RSVP via your RSVP card with any dietary restrictions. Please contact Crissy with any questions. The deadline to respond is April 11th.

I can't attend the wedding in person. Will there be a virtual wedding celebration?

Answer

Crissy and Jorge are working with Grace Church Cathedral on a virtual option via YouTube. Please check back here again.

Question

I'm visiting from out of town. What can I do while I'm in Charleston/Isle of Palms?

Answer

Do you have a wedding registry?

Answer

Your presence is your special gift. Especially since many of you are traveling from a distance, gifts are not expected. However, requests have been made for a registry. Crissy and Jorge are creating a registry and will be posted soon. Please check back here for the website.

Can I bring my gift to the wedding?

Answer

Your presence is present enough, but should you wish to bring a gift to the wedding, there will be a gift table for your convenience at the reception.

Will there be any other events to attend during the wedding week?

Answer

When will the reception end? Will there be an after-party?

Answer

The reception ends at 11:00 pm sharp as there are guest rooms under the ballroom. An afterparty is being discussed, but no plans at this time have been made. The Bride and Groom will be at the beach on Saturday, feel free to join them.

What health and safety measures will you be taking during the event?

Answer

The event will follow local regulations in regard to pandemic precautions. Crissy and Jorge appreciate your cooperation so that everyone can have a fun and enjoyable time. If you have any questions, please contact Crissy.

How will you communicate any updated information and/or changes before the wedding?

Answer

Crissy is trying to collect emails and phone numbers so that updates can be communicated with you as fast as possible. Please contact Crissy if you have not already provided your email and cell phone number.

Please note that on the wedding day, Crissy and Jorge may not be able to respond quickly and they may refer your inquiry to a family member or event staff to take care of your question/inquiry.
