We met in 2020 at Oklahoma State University where Emily was a sophomore and Noah was a junior. One of Emily’s friends introduced us one night, and a few weeks later we went on our first “date.” Emily convinced Noah to drive home to Tulsa to vote, promising to come along so he’d actually do it. Neither of us are big into politics, but we figured a Tuesday off school was a good excuse to hang out. We played golf, voted, and ended the day with Italian at Mondo’s. On the way back to campus, Noah decided to make a quick stop at his parents’ house to see his mom and dog, Scotch, which was a surprise that Emily didn’t see coming. His mom was apparently running around lighting candles like the Queen was coming over, while Emily was frantically fixing her hair in the car after a long day. Somehow it all worked out, and from then on, she felt like part of the family. (Brenda even texted Noah later saying, “Can we keep her?”) After Noah graduated in 2022, he moved to Dallas for work while Emily finished her senior year at OSU. That meant a lot of road trips up and down I-35, lots of coffee, and a few too many playlists, but it made every weekend together that much better. When Emily graduated in 2023, she moved back home to Dallas and that next summer we decided to move in together. We found a beautiful townhouse in Uptown Dallas that’s been our home ever since. The neighborhood fits us perfectly: walkable, full of energy, and centered around Griggs Park. Outside of being our favorite spot to walk, Griggs Park also ended up being where Noah would propose. He planned a dinner at Monarch downtown which is 48 floors up with an insane view of the city (and the park below). While we were at dinner, he had our families and a photographer set up the park with candles, flowers, champagne, and framed photos from over four years of memories featuring our trips to Antigua, Washington D.C., the Lake of the Ozarks, and then all those special OSU moments. After dinner, Noah suggested a walk... suspicious, we know, but Emily agreed as long as she could touch up her makeup. As we got to the top of the hill with the Dallas skyline glowing behind us, Noah got down on one knee and asked the question. She said yes (obviously) and right on cue, our families appeared to celebrate with us. Since that night, we’ve continued writing our story together. We took our first international trip to Italy where we stayed in Praiano on the Amalfi Coast and then explored Rome and Naples. We’re still in our Uptown townhouse, filling it with new memories and beautifully cooked dinners (yes, Emily is now on track to become a professional chef). We’re so excited to celebrate our wedding next July surrounded by all the people who have been part of this journey with us and can’t wait for all that’s still to come!
