At some point in February of 2018, a grad student named Becky started talking to a bank IT employee named Tony. After talking for a while, the pair decided to meet in person and on March 1st, these two kiddos went on their very first date. He was enchanted by her sparkling wit and knowledge of English linguistic history, and she was smitten by his sense of humor and his very impressive listening skills. Becky and Tony met each others friends and families, and began to start dating officially in April. In the early days of their relationship, Becky and Tony endured a trial by fire. Tony accompanied Becky for various academic functions, supported her pursuit of her Master's degree, and stood by her side as she mourned the loss of her father, Jon, in May of 2018. Becky attended work-related events with Tony, accompanied his family at their lake place, and became close friends with his close friends. 2019 featured Becky and Tony laying the foundations for a lasting, healthy relationship. Through academic successes and struggles, through work-related stressors and celebrations, these two supported each other and developed a mutual respect and an ever-deepening affection for each other. Becky graduated and began her first year of teaching, and Tony remained in Fargo. Long distance was something neither of them were very happy about, but Becky remained very positive, and Tony was flexible and intentional about visiting close to every weekend. It was hard, and sometimes unpleasant, but for a year and a half, Becky and Tony survived and kept their relationship stable while living in separate towns. Then, in 2020, everything changed. The Covid-19 pandemic hit, Becky's career took a turn as she transitioned from being a high school English teacher in a small town to being an English Learner teacher in a middle school in Bismarck, and Tony began working from home, followed Becky to Bismarck, bought a house, and got a dog. By the summer of 2021, Becky and Tony were blissfully ensconced in their life together. They got re-acquainted to what life was like living in the same town, which they enjoyed exploring together. Combined, they have three pets who will become siblings: Puck (the world's friendliest cat), Ellie (the world's most mercurial cat), and Cooper (the world's most lummoxy dog). In 2022, Tony (with Becky's input), designed the One Ring to Woo Them All. When he finally got around to asking, Becky responded with all the enthusiasm of her Hobbity heart (which, if you know Becky, is a LOT of enthusiasm). Now, in 2023, after four years of friendship, love, and partnership, Becky and Tony are happy to confirm their everlasting love for and commitment to each other, and invite you to share in the party!
