Alex and Rachel had both spent many fun nights at the Foley Basement. Rachel actually knew Alex’s parents, Tami and Phil, long before they ever connected. One night, when Rachel was in town from Columbus, she and Alex stayed up til the wee hours of the morning listening to 80s music with friends. Rachel remembered thinking how late it was, but she wasn’t ready to stop hanging out with Alex just yet. When the night was over, she needed to walk back to her mom’s house where she was staying (literally, around the corner) and insisted she could make the walk solo. Alex, being the gentlemen he is, wouldn’t have it- so he walked her home around the block. Little did they know he would make this walk a handful of times before finally deciding to pay Rachel a visit in Columbus. They’d spend a year and a half making the drive between Maumee and Columbus, but the trip was always worth it. The rest is history!

Unless you live under a rock, you’ve probably heard our proposal story! Alex entered a contest “Take the Leap in a Jeep” which had been aired on the radio for months. Lucky for him, Rachel had a few shifts in a row that week, so when he found out on a Wednesday that he had won, he had plenty of time to scheme with their families and friends. Rachel was suspicious, but when Alex told her they had to be at Jeep Fest, he simply said they won a “runner up prize” and would be riding in a Jeep for the parade. Surprisingly, Alex is a pretty good liar. However, he’s DEFINITELY camera shy! When the Jeep came to an abrupt stop at Jefferson and Huron, we were surrounded by cameras. Alex very nervously got down on one knee and mumbled out what we think was “will you marry me?” but it was a little hard to make it out over Rachel’s excited screams. All of our families were there, and it was a day we will both never forget! We're so excited start the rest of our lives together and cannot wait to celebrate with you! See you in Toledo!
