The year is 2012... Phillip Phillips just won American Idol, Snapchat was the newest craze, we recently realized that Instagram is more than just filters to use your grainy photos, Kony is campaigning, and Gangnum style is trending. Gearing up for Freshman year of college at Baylor University, my soon-to-be roommate, Bonney, was debriefing me on her Baylor Line Camp experience, prepping me for my upcoming camp session. Somehow through the internet, she met Sam Mills, who was soon-to-be roommates with Crayton. They connected the dots that their roommates were about to attend the same Line Camp, and she told me to find him! Line Camp has ~hundreds of 'campers' broken into small groups of around 20 people. I went into camp knowing one name, Crayton, and, can you believe it... we were assigned to the same small group! From there a friendship flourished. We met when he had a buzz cut, so it wasn't exactly love at first sight ;) But, after classes together, countless study sessions, and football games, a crush developed. By second semester Freshman year, Crayton finally worked up the nerve to ask me to be his girlfriend in front of the Collins dumpsters <3 I guess you could call us a true 'Line Camp Success Story'. We made it through Baylor, post-grad, countless haircuts, long-distance travels, surgeries, new roommates, moves, new pets, new jobs, joined a new church, and... EIGHT years and a global pandemic later... he asked me to be his WIFE!
Clara and I have an ironic Baylor-esque story, that we aren’t at all ashamed of! We met at Baylor Line Camp, became friends through taking classes together and studying at the library, where we discovered our shared interests in musicals, Baylor Sing, The Office, and a common pursuit of the Lord. Our friendship flourished and we discovered our love for one another! Clara has been there for me for support when I have needed her most. She has been a rock in my life and I love that we have grown and matured with one another over the years. It may have taken a while but it’s been well worth the wait! Clara makes me happy, she makes me laugh and she makes my life delightful, I cannot wait for her to be my wife! P.S. (I have a much better haircut now ;) )
