Brett and Kendra met when Brett was in his first year of residency at Kern Medical and Kendra was a ED Tech. They were both relatively new to the department, so nothing happened for a couple of years. This was in 2019. Brett was new to the Bakersfield area and had his career goals in mind and Kendra was making the time pass by to get into nursing school. Really, the only verbal exchanges they ever had were regarding patient care. Fast forward to Covid-19 where Kendra was able to pick up extra shifts and Brett settled quite comfortably into his ED Doc role. Again, no true verbal exchanges unless it was regarding to patient care. At some point, an Instagram friendship happened where Kendra learned Brett had the cutest big dummy dog named Boba. Kendra also learned Brett loves the outdoors, specifically the mountains, hanging out with family, and just having fun. Fast forward to 2021, a few changes happened in both of their lives that when the stars aligned, something just happened, and it stuck. Kendra will tell you quite literally, "I want that one" when pointing to Brett in the ED to her best friend Shannon. The two girls giggled not knowing what was to come of that. Kendra made the bold move one day leaving a shift to ask Brett how Boba was, and I think the rest just fell into place. Shannon and Kendra left the hospital that morning and met up for a Mimosa Monday where the champagne was flowing way too easy! Leaving Mimosa Monday, Kendra let the bubbles give her courage to make another move at Brett as Shannon joked with, "You won't!" Kendra was super classy and "slid into his DMs" to her surprise, Brett responded immediately! Kendra was a notorious for being late and the first to leave at work, however, things started to change when she started showing up 20-30 minutes earlier and dragging to leave just to see Dr. Cowan! They kept things quiet to remain professional on all accounts, however, some close friends (Shannon, Max, and Abdel) were the few to know the love that was brewing. Eventually, their secret became known when the couple hosted a Halloween party and dressed up together. Since then, it really has just always been... THEM! They are always on the run seeking their next adventure, raising their four kids Haylie, Avery, Logan and Brielle, and enjoying life as it should be IN LOVE!

In the timeline of their adventures, The "Wolf Pack" became a thing where the three "Prism Bros" got all three of their ladies, Anna, Geocel, and Kendra together. In November 2022, the Wolf Pack wanted to make plans to hang out together. It was rare all six of them had a free schedule at once, so it was always tough to find the perfect time. The Wolf Pack ultimately decided in a hike in Kernville. Kendra's spidey senses tingled because Abdel suggested the hike... which was an odd request for him! Abdel is usually suggesting top-tier food recommendations where Brett is suggesting the hikes... but they had a plan the entire time. December 3rd, 2022, the day of the hike and Kendra went along with the hike just sensing something unusual about that day. Brett, Kendra, Max, Geocel, Anna, and Abdel (who initially planned the hike) was there in spirit, met in Kernville at a stellar hiking location right next to the Kern River with the final destination at the Seven Teacups. The crew hiked along with the rain misting down on top of them enjoying each other's company, laughs, peeing in the wilderness, and outdoors! Everyone except Kendra knew what was to come next. Brett had been soon nervous that the crew almost walked BEYOND the final destination. Thankfully Max looked up and said, "OH! LOOK! We're here!" The group took the opportunity to snap some photos when Brett got down on one knee. Of course, Kendra said yes, it was without a doubt! The crew popped champagne in the celebration of love! Fast forward to Spring 2023 when wedding planning was in full swing, Kendra got accepted into nursing school where all plans were slammed to a HALT. With demanding school schedules of the kids and Kendra, the wedding of their dreams was not ideal during that time. Fast forward to now, Kendra has successfully wrapped up nursing school and as it is obvious, wedding planning is NOW in full swing!
