The wedding venue is in South Yarra, but there are several neighborhoods in Melbourne that would be appropriate for your stay. South Yarra – This is Emily’s old neighborhood and our favourite in the city. The main street in the neighborhood is Chapel Street with great shops, bars and restaurants. South Yarra is only two stops to downtown. Melbourne/CBD – This is the downtown area. It’s very busy, but lots of restaurants and it's easy to get around. St Kilda Road – If you don’t want to be right in the city, but still close to the venue. It also has frequent trams that will take you into the city or down to St Kilda. St Kilda – This is where the beaches are! However, like most beaches, the area attracts some riff raff. Port / South Melbourne -- both beautiful areas by the bay, but neither have great public transport options. Richmond -- large suburb with lots of bars and restaurants. Home of the Richmond Tigers! If you have any questions about other boroughs, just ask us!

The Great Ocean Road is a beautiful drive you can do from Melbourne kind of like Australia's version of Big Surr (but much smaller). You can do it all in one day and return to Melbourne or spend a night in one of the little beach towns (our favourite is Apollo Bay). As it will be the middle of school holidays this will be very busy so please factor that in to your time scheduling. You can do this drive on your own or you can book a tour that will leave from Melbourne.

The Great Barrier Reef is one of the best things about Australia and sadly it might not be around for ever! If you have the time we recommend setting aside a few days to get up to Port Douglas and take a snorkeling trip to the reef or see it from a helicopter. We did it in 2014 and flew to Cairns (pronounced "Cans") and drove a rental car the couple hours to Port Douglas--which is a cute beach town. From Port Douglas we took a day trip out to the reef and spent a day snorkeling. While you're out by the reef, there are also rainforests nearby. We also drove out to Mossman Gorge and went on a crocodile tour. Highly recommend!

We would like to try and organise a winery tour departing from Melbourne the week before the wedding. Victoria has some beautiful wineries that we would like the Americans to experience. If you would be interested in attending a winery tour that departs from Melbourne the week before the Wedding (possible the Wednesday the 15th) please email Emily so she can keep you in the loop (emilycousins054@gmail.com)
