The Battery is downtown Charleston's waterfront - There you'll find White Point Gardens, a beautiful park overlooking the Charleston Harbor with views of Fort Sumter. You'll also see big, beautiful, historic houses here! We spent one our first dates strolling the battery.
Want to go to the beach? Check out our favorite beach, Folly! If you go all the way down on the East side you can check out the Morris Island Lighthouse. There are also a lot of good restaurants at Folly. Rita's Seaside Grill is our favorite. Make sure you get the pulled pork nachos with their watermelon salsa!
At Charleston's Waterfront Park, you'll find the famous Pineapple Fountain and a peir to walk and swing with views of the harbor, Patriots Point, and the Ravenel Bridge. Our favorite Gelato shop, Belgian Gelato, is located near here, too. Vanilla on draft, in a cone, the Belgian way, is our favorite!
On Market Street you'll find the old city market. This is great place to browse for local crafts, food, and other vendors. Make sure you stop by Market Street Sweets and get a free praline sample!
Patriots Point is a Naval and Marine Museum and home to the USS Yorktown. You can also take a helicopter ride from here. We took one of these rides and it was a blast! It is such a great way to see the beaches and Charleston area in about 20 minutes!
Sullivan's Island Beach is another great spot if you're feeling beachy! You'll find Fourt Moultrie and the Sullivan's Island Lighthouse here.
Isle of Palms is another close beach to the venue. Here, you'll find Wild Dunes Golf Resort.
King Street is located in downtown Charleston where you'll find a lot of shopping and restaurants. You could consider this the “main drag” of our city.
