Carlos and I met while attending Winston-Salem State University. He was a full-time History major who also worked part-time at C G O’Kelly Library and I was a Clinical Lab Science major who often studied at O’Kelly. We later reconnected after graduating when Carlos asked to take me out. I thought of how he would often try to make me laugh while passing through the library yet, I wouldn’t show my amusement in his persistence to make me smile. I accepted the invitation. It was from that moment our journey began.
Courtney and I spent New Year's Eve alone at home and knowing that night would be the night that I asked her to be my wife, I knew I had to make it special. I had bought some roses and had them hid in my car and the ring was hidden in our guest bedroom. At about 5 til midnight I ran to the car to grab the flowers and she was so surprised she began to tear up. While she was still taking in the moment, I stepped away to get the ring. She looked up and saw the box in the palm of my hand and she began to cry like a baby. lol. I got down on one knee and asked her to be my wife. She cried some more and then she said "Yes", and the rest is history in the making.
