Originally the home of the influential and aristocratic FitzGerald family, Carton House was a favorite of Queen Victoria and counts Princess Grace, Prince Rainier and Peter Sellers as its one-time inhabitants. Its history is as dramatic and storied as that of Ireland itself; rich in art, culture, romance and politics, echoes of which can be felt as you walk the halls today. This is the wedding hotel venue. We have reserved a discounted room block over the weekend for 3 nights. If you are looking to stay 5 or more nights, you will receive an additional 15% discount off our discounted rate. A full breakfast each morning is included with your rate. Given the city of Dublin is almost sold out the night of May 22nd due to the European Cup Final in Dublin, we were able to secure a very limited number of rooms at a discounted rate. If you are arriving on May 22nd and do not plan to stay at the Carton House, we highly suggest reserving your room as soon as you are able. Our rate is valid until March 22, 2024. The code is “Buckley2024”. The discounted rate is only available for May 22 & check out May 23. The code can be entered into the promocode section of the booking process and the wedding rates will then appear at the top of the page. The wedding rate of €279.00 (~USD$300) is inclusive of breakfast and available for deluxe double and twin rooms only. Immigration and Customs
Upon arrival in the Dublin Airport, you will go through immigration. This is not security and your bags will not be checked. You will go through the Non-EU line and the immigration officer will ask you to present your passport, along with your reason for travel to Ireland. They may ask where you are staying and the duration of your stay. You do not need a Visa nor are there any COVID-19 restrictions. For those departing Ireland returning to the US, note that the Dublin Airport has a US Customs facility in the terminal. This means you will go through US Customs at the Dublin Airport and will arrive in Domestic terminals when landing in the US. Please plan on arriving at the Dublin Airport 2 1/2 - 3 hours before your departure. For those with Global Entry, you will be able to use the Global Entry Kiosk in the Dublin Airport at US customs/border control.

Taxi Services
Since Uber isn't as widespread in Ireland as it is in the US, Free Now is a recommended taxi service to use while in Ireland. You can download the app beforehand or follow the signs upon arrival for the taxi line. Taxis accept all major credit cards and Euros (cash).
Rental Car
Dublin Airport Car Rental
The easiest way to travel around Ireland is via car and there is plenty of free parking on-site for those driving to the Carton House. For those traveling from the US, beware that rental cars are typically manual transmissions so make sure to explicitly request an automatic car if you are not comfortable driving a left-handed stick shift. Be mindful you will need to be comfortable driving on the left side of the road and on narrow roads… and this includes meeting sheep down a single lane road, particularly if exploring rural Ireland! If my Dad can drive on the left side of the road for 2 weeks during our Ireland road trip, so can you!
