A message from us!

Although we had to move our special day to June due to Covid-19, we could not be more excited to have a spring wedding--almost exactly 5 years to-the-date of our very first cup of coffee together (kind of seems like fate)! Your love and friendship mean everything to us and we are so thankful to have all of you in our lives. We cannot wait to celebrate with you! -Courtney and Dean

How We Met

02.21.2016 1:32pm (says Dean)

Courtney's Verison: I decided to join the online dating world before moving back to the USA from Yangon, Myanmar in the spring of 2016. It was harder than I expected to strike up a conversation haha but I decided to say 'hey' to Rudy55104 and 'hey' is literally all that message said! Luckily, Rudy 55104 said 'hey' back and so our 3 month penpal-ship began! (Special thanks to Lisa G and Brittany A for sitting in the hotel hallway while we had our first facetime date.) <3 Fast forward to June 15th our first real date of coffee and a walk with Rudy. <3 Dean's Version: There was something about the way that Courtney sent me a "hey!" with no profile picture that I could not say "hey" back to. Got me, hook line and sinker. That said, I didn't think that doing online dating involved three months of being penpal buddies from across the ocean, but it worked as we segued into grabbing our first cup of coffee at Starbucks together, in person, and making many--too many--trips back to Starbucks has become our life together... only now with a dog and puppachinos. Looking forward to many more trips to Starbucks in the future with my future Mrs. #twoCoffeesAndOneVanillaBeanScone

Our Engagement

9.22.18

Courtney's Version: We were both signed up to run the TC Ten Mile in October 2018. Dean told me he was going for a run late that morning (the race was in 2 weeks and this would be training run #3 for him 😑). After an hour and half (all of his his training runs had been 30min or less) I began to wonder if I should go look for him. He then walked into our bedroom running clothes and all and popped the question! Dean's Version: When I woke up that September morning, I wasn't planning on proposing to Courtney that day. In fact, I was still thinking through what the "perfect" proposal would be, but hadn't landed on an idea that was good enough. Later that morning, I finally got myself to go for my first practice run for the Minneapolis 10 Mile that was in just a few weeks, something I was dreading doing - running. But once I got outside, I quickly realized that it was beauiful out. 75 degrees, sunny, and no clouds in the sky. Kinda, perfect! Then I thought "what if I popped the question today?!" Yep, that's what I was going to do. So my run turned into turning around and running back home, grabbing the ring and walking into our bedroom where Courtney was and got down on one sweaty knee and asked my boo if I could spend the rest of our lives togther. She eventually said "Yeah." (Courtney's add on note...eventually means I cried and could not believe it...then when I could speak said "Yes!")
