How They Met

8.29.2015

They met during their freshman year at Northpoint Bible College in Haverhill, MA. Their first hello was over an assignment in Old Testament History and Literature, although they remained only acquaintances until Spring 2016. Their friendship and relationship has had many ups and downs, but they always thought, "If we've made it where we are now, there must be something to it." Now, their love is unbreakable, even during finals week.

The Proposal

9.17.2017

It was a foggy night, and Grace was feeling homesick as she wrapped herself in her California sweatshirt, walking across campus to her dorm. On the way, she called Michael on the phone, hoping they could go for a short walk to enjoy the weather. Of course, he felt compelled to comfort her. On his way out of his room, the special velvet box on his dresser caught his eye. He hadn't planned on proposing yet, but he had a feeling that tonight could be the night, so he put it in his pocket and walked out the door. The couple took a short walk down South Main Street to a small park and a gazebo with seating. Grace talked, unloading her week's stress, and Michael listened, waiting for the perfect moment. When she subsided, he began to speak, "I know what you mean. There's been a lot going on this semester in my life too, even right now..." A little nervous, he stood up, turned to her, got down on one knee, and opened the ring box... Upside down. Quickly he flipped it over (no, the ring did not fall out, thank God). Perhaps he was a little more nervous than he thought, and it wasn't like he had ever done this before, so he didn't know what else to do other than keep going. He spoke from his heart, explaining how he wanted to be by Grace's side for the rest of his life, doing everything he could to show her how special, beautiful, and important he knew she was. Time seemed to stand still. Michael's face was lit by streetlamps, and the beautiful ring shone brightly in the lighted ring box. It was so perfect and pure; it was surreal. Once the ring was on Grace's finger, the couple stood and hugged (and jumped and danced), absolutely elated. They began their journey back to campus holding each other's hand, and they never let go since.
