How We Met

If we turn back the clock to 2018… Joe was miserably over college, ready to take on a full time job in San Francisco and get the heck out of Athens. Morgan on the other hand, was still going to Crystal every night, trying to avoid the realization her victory lap and college career were over. Both being from Cincinnati and having many mutual friends, we somehow didn't brush shoulders in the small town of Athens until our last semester when Morgan got dragged into Pigskin and introduced to Joe. Becoming friends before graduating, they never thought they would see each other again as they’d live on opposite sides of the country. Six months after graduation, an Instagram DM from Morgan landed in Joe's inbox, “I want your life.” Joe calls Morgan, convincing her to come visit, maybe even take a job interview where he works. Shortly after, we’re working on the same team in San Francisco. Three months later we are dating. Another three months later we’re moving yet again, this time into the same apartment in Denver. Two years later we’re heading to Italy where Morgan doesn't realize the trip will cement us together, forever.

The Proposal

Both having Italian roots, Italy was always a bucket list place for us. After a year of Morgan hinting that she was ready to get engaged, Joe thought this would be a great time to finally plan the trip and set the bar way too high as they start their lives together. Planning the trip with uncertainties of Covid restrictions, Morgan discussed postponing the trip, but Joe had already purchased the ring and was going to Italy one way or another. In total Joe style, he rented a boat for the day for just us + two of our closest friends to explore the Amalfi Coast. On the way to our first stop, Capri, we passed through the Faraglioni, The Tunnel of Love. Everyone except Morgan, knew this was the moment. However Joe didn’t think through trying to propose on a 25 foot boat in the middle of the rocky ocean, so Morgan nearly got sea sick. Joe went to comfort Morgan, and took the time to question if he should still follow through with his plans. Joe repeating this moment in his head for three months, wasn't going to let it pass, so he continued with his plans to propose.
