“Fred & Doll”

From the perspective of, Doll.

In true 21st century/millenial style, Kevin & Cortney met #online after much peer pressure from their respective friend groups (even though Fred lied about us being set up for a few weeks... sorry Mrs. H.F). For Cortney, she had a series of horrifying awful but funny first dates that then led to a sabatical for a few months. Kevin was the first person that she talked to when she got back online, after mustering up the guts to “put herself back out there”! The first few weeks were a lot of texting, getting to know each other, and missed first date opportunities due to scheduling conflicts but was SO WORTH IT. The first date (after recieving 3 options- favorite game ever) was at Hillstone, for 3 hours. The butterflies were definitely there (he is definitely a handsome fella) and they laughed, bonded over love of family and gin martinis, and by the end of the date, Kevin had already asked for date #2. That was the beginning of getting to know the kindest, most sincere man that Cortney has ever know (hint for all men reading this... he still opens her car door after 2 years, EVERY TIME) and takes care of everyone first, himself after. #goodhuman Getting to know his amazing family, spending time by the pool, realizing that Nascar is more than redneck, drunk white guys in cut-off shorts, and sharing some incredible adventures, Cortney fell in love with “Fred” pretty quickly. The past two years have been the best of Cortney’s life and she has learned more about life, become a reformed workaholic, and is grateful for the love that Kevin shows her every day. PS: He calls her Doll because of her porcelain skin and she calls him Fred because of a weird Thomsen tradition... he’s ok with it though since Fred is the name of the bassett hound in Smokey and the Bandit.

From Fred's prespective

I am not the storyteller that Cortney is, but I wanted to give credit where credit is due. For getting back into the dating world, I had my reservations and was not sure how it was all going to go. I guess I didn't need to worry about it since my first in person meeting would be my last. I had the privilege of meeting a beautiful, fair skin, green eyed girl with an amazing smile. The rest of our early dating life was a fun time getting to know each other and having some amazing experiences together including many trips to Colorado and Napa California, with numerous more exciting trips planned for the future. Upon our first trip to Crested Butte, once I realized she traveled similar to myself when it comes to being early and having some plans predetermined, I knew she was the one. :) She puts up with my silly Racing habit and comes out and shows her support in person, and the track staff seems more excited to see her than me! It doesn't surprise me though, who doesn't like her after about 30 seconds of being around her?? #Luckyme! #makesmelookgood #travelbuddy I am looking forward to this next chapter of our lives in this beautiful environment and hope each an everyone of you get a chance to share even in a small way.

Our Proposal: With Fireworks!

While on vacation in their #happyplace of Crested Butte, Colorado on New Years Eve Kevin planned a trip that was absolutely perfect and just the two of them. After a day of enjoying spiked hot chocolate, playing games at our favorite places, and enjoying the FREEZING but beautiful location, they went to the Lodge to have a pre- NYE glass of champage. Then they went outside and with a torchlight parade coming down the mountain, standing beside a firepit, and fireworks going off, Kevin asked Cortney to marry him! #luckygirl
