Our Engagement

I had attempted to plan a couple of surprise dates for Corrinne, but kept accidentally spoiling them all by accidentally telling her the reservation I confirmed or letting a few details slip. Corrinne had a Friday off work so I let her know I'll take the day off as well and I can plan a whole day of surprises for her in order to make up for blowing the last few surprises. I had told Corrinne that we need to start our day prepared for a nice brunch. We were heading down south of Richmond towards the Lilly Pad - the restaurant where we had our first date and will forever be our favorite date spot - once you get past the city it becomes fairly obvious to her that is where we're headed. So I told Corrinne that our first surprise was for Genny (our dog), I knew this was the perfect cover up because the thing that would make Corrinne happiest was if I included Genny in on the surprise. We arrive to the Lilly Pad - the parking lot is almost empty (they don't open til way later in the day), it's perfect! They have a boat ramp where we will typically throw the ball for Genny to get into the water, but I try to pull Corrinne off in a different direction, towards the end of the dock. She was a little hesitant, asking why we're going this way "What're you doing, we've never gone this way before" and I reply "Porter told me there is a great view of the city from here" (he hadn't told me that, thanks for being my scapegoat Porter). I grabbed Corrinne's hand to guide her to the edge of the dock, with the tennis ball in my other hand to lure Genny that direction so we can get them to the edge of the dock. We make it to the edge of the dock, I get down on one knee, and the rest is history - she says yes! We're so excited to celebrate with everyone and cannot wait to see you in August!
