In October 2021, we both moved into the one and only iconic neighborhood—Las Palmas. (If you know, you know.) We crossed paths at the dog park now and then, exchanging the occasional "hello" and wave. That changed in February, when I (Sammi) came across a familiar face while scrolling through Hinge—a "like" from my good ol' neighbor Tyler. I matched him, and he slid in with a line for the ages: “Do you live in Las Palmas?” After some lighthearted chatting, we planned our first date: wine and Vincenzo’s pizza at my place. The wine, the vibes, and the music videos were flowin', so naturally the party continued at the firepit #ClassicLasPalmas. Just a few days after that, we planned another date; this time a group trivia night with our friends. My mom, Barbara asked if she could join, promising to sit a few tables away. When the time came, with zero surprise to me, she took a seat right next to Tyler. He officially met one of the parents after just four days, and he handled it like a champ! Two weeks in after a brunch on the town, I confidently told Tyler’s best friend Marc at the Cigar Bar that I was going to marry Tyler. Marc thought I was absolutely insane. Soon after, Tyler’s coworkers gifted him a hat that read “Love Your Neighbor,” which became an ongoing joke in our relationship. Almost four years, a second dog child, a million laughs, and countless memories later, here we are. Las Palmas, in all its glory will always be a special place to us. The place we both went to be the most independent version of ourselves brought us to the person we can depend on for the rest of our lives. Cheers to neighbors!
