A vaccine is not required to get to Hawaii, but everyone 5 years of age and older who is not vaccinated must take a NAAT/PCR Covid test within 72 hours of the flight that lands in Hawaii (i.e. if your first flight is at 7:00 AM and stops in Phoenix, and the second flight is at 11:00 AM PST, the test must be within 72 hours (not more than 72 hours) of the 11:00 AM PST flight) Only COVID-19 test results from Hawaii's Trusted Testing and Travel Partners, found on https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel-partners/ will be accepted. All other tests will be rejected.
Currently, the capacity limits are 25 outdoor/ 10 indoors for social gatherings and 50% in restaurants, bars, gyms. Similar to current Illinois regulations, the current rules in Kauai indicate that masks are required indoors, including hotel lobbies or walking to your table in restaurants. But no masks are required outdoors at the pool or beach.
The Safe Travels Hawaii Program allows visitors to register for an exemption to the current 10 day quarantine rule. The current rules require a quarantine of 10 days unless you are vaccinated, provide proof of a negative COVID test within 72 hours of the flight, or fall under another exemption. 1. Please visit travel.hawaii.gov and make an account. 2. Once you have input your information, go to the "Trips" tab and insert your flight information. 3. Then, go to the "Exemption/Exception from Quarantine" link. 4. Click on the Exemption that applies to you - COVID Vaccine or NAAT/PCR Test (All unvaccinated travelers 5 and older must have a negative test within 72 hours of their flight to Hawaii) 5. For COVID Vaccines - it will prompt you to upload a PDF or JPG file of your Vaccine Card For NAAT/PCR Tests it will prompt you to upload your negative test result. The site advises: Only upload COVID-19 test results from Hawaii's Trusted Testing and Travel Partners, found on https://hawaiicovid19.com/travel-partners/. All other tests will be rejected. 6. You will be prompted to fill out a health questionnaire 24 hours prior to departure 7. Once you fill out the health questionnaire, you will receive a QR code. This is the QR needed for entry into Hawaii.
At this time, there are no plans to reinstate pre-travel COVID testing for vaccinated travelers.
No. The County of Oahu instituted its own additional restrictions. Oahu is the most populated island and its hospitals are at capacity. Travelers to Oahu must present proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test taken within 48 hours of entering restaurants, bars, museums, gyms, and other indoor businesses beginning September 13th.
Not on Kauai at this time. If you are traveling to Oahu, you will have to present proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test within 48 hours of entering an indoor business beginning September 13th.
Yes! We encourage everyone to book their dinner reservations as soon as possible as a lot of places are booking up because of the reduced capacity. We recommend checking Open Table or similar sites.
