How we met

First comes preschool, then comes marriage

We first met in preschool, then parted ways for elementary school. We met again at Sacramento Country Day for middle school, and stayed there for high school. Jack asked Cori out their junior year of high school with a bouquet of red roses in her locker and the rest is history.

The Proposal

Almost a decade later

We had been talking about potentially getting married for a while. When Cori asked too many questions, Jack would always joke that he would propose with a ring pop candy. In July 2021, we went on an overnight backpacking trip in Yosemite, and Cori had a feeling that was where Jack would propose. We hiked to North Dome and had lunch with beautiful views directly across from Half Dome. Despite the amazing scenery, Jack did not propose because he knew Cori was expecting it to happen there. The absent proposal annoyed Cori, who wouldn’t admit that she was upset even though Jack could tell. To make matters worse, the extreme heat that weekend quickly made us low on water. After hiking for many miles to find a water source, we came upon a secluded stream with cold, refreshing water. While desperately drinking water and lounging on the surrounding rocks, Jack decided that this peaceful spot in the forest would be a great location to catch Cori off guard. After asking her to refill the water bottles, Jack sneakily got out the ring. When Cori came back, she was very confused when she was handed a ring pop package. Once she opened it, she realized that Jack had sealed the engagement ring inside the wrapper. After seeing the ring, Cori said "YES!" over and over. Jack knelt and put the ring on her finger. Through the excitement, Jack forgot to ask “Will you marry me?”, which Cori quickly reminded him that he needed to do. After hiking 13 miles total that day, we spent the night camping under the Yosemite stars.

The Venue

Heringer Estates

Clarksburg, Ca has been the Heringer family home since 1868 when John Heringa immigrated from Holland to California. John came to the Sacramento River Delta with his family to farm and build his legacy. Through seven generations the family has farmed various row crops, such as alfalfa, corn, sugar beets, and tomatoes. In the 1970s the Heringer family planted their first vineyard. That first planting of wine grapes was the beginning of a changing agriculture market in California and the start of the Clarksburg Wine Country that we love today. Today the family shows the same boot strapping determination and love for their land and community at Heringer Estates by producing over 30 certified sustainable wines, offering a customizable wine club, hosting private events and weddings, and opening up their home estate as a tasting room for daily wine tasting experiences.
