It Was You

She was as radiant as the sun’s beam on the surface of the earth. He stood still in awe, as if time itself had paused just to watch her glow. Her eyes pierced him like an arrow, straight through his heart. He didn’t flinch because in that moment, he knew he’d been found, not wounded. She wanted to be soft, and he wanted to be her protector. She wanted to be seen, and he was trustworthy and compassionate. She wanted to be loved, cared for, and poured into and he was generous, faithful, and purpose-driven. Together, we became the sum of what we desired the most what we could become, and each other’s peace. I wanted to be accepted as I am; my love, my imperfections, my soul. And he held me as if each flaw was a verse in a poem he never wanted to end. Connected by something more than the strings of destiny perhaps it was the quiet pull of our souls recognising home. Our journey began four years ago. And here we are now, standing on the road to forever. You were worth the wait. It was you that I had been waiting for in every prayer, every quiet hope, every wondering. And now, in this lifetime and the next, it will always be you.
