We both worked at an insurance company. There were no doors separating our cubicles; only perforations between each desk. Joseph is naturally a very friendly person and would send out morning emails to his group of friends to wish everyone a good day. Unbeknownst to Cora, she was added to this group of friends and would receive a good morning message from Joseph. As she opened the first of his many emails, she looked over her shoulder only to find Joseph standing at his cubicle, looking in her direction and smiling. The rest is, as they say, history.

We gathered for Joseph's grandmother's birthday in October 2011. Joseph insisted that Cora get her hair done before the cook out celebration. Unfortunately, she choose to get braids. The process was about 6 hours so Joseph had lots of time to plan. He decided that he would have his aunt join in on the fun and when Cora arrived to celebrate, everyone was asked to meet outside on the patio. Everyone gathered around and Aunt Pete took the "stage". She thanked everyone for coming and showing so much love to Grandma Boosie. As she continued, she asked that her nephew join her on the stage because she needed some "help". Meanwhile, in the crowd, Joseph's cousin asked Cora if she could hold Caimora (who was about 7 months at the time). Joseph came on stage and asked that Cora join him because he couldn't do this alone. Cora made her way in front of the crowd and on stage when Joseph began his spill. I don't remember what he said AT ALL and Joseph apparently cannot remember since he is the king of improvising. But they both agree that when Joseph pulled out the ring box, everyone remembers this exact moment. Joseph held the ring box and got down on one knee. He opened the ring box and popped the question. What was inside was not what anyone expected. Joseph was holding a bright red Ring Pop! To his question of marriage, Cora said "Hell no!" Joseph presented her with her actual engagement ring. She then said "yes" and everyone laughed.
