It’s still up for debate where their love story began - the SF Italian Club dodgeball court, the booth at Northstar Cafe, or passing through Saxon Suites at UCLA. (hint: it’s definitely not the latter). While Emma and Daniel both attended UCLA and had very overlapping social lives in college, they never met until they both lived in San Francisco in 2020. Emma decided create a team on the local dodgeball league for friends from UCLA. While this team was meant as a fun Thursday night way to spend time with friends, her good friend Addy Sisk declared, “Stritz, I feel like your soulmate is on this dodgeball league”. He was! Being the social city boy Daniel is, when he received a link to sign up for a dodgeball team from one of his UCLA co-workers, he immediately signed up- no questions asked! Little did he know his co-workers quip of “maybe you’ll meet someone” would prove to be so prescient. Fast forward a couple weeks and "Daniel Coolidge" (the mysterious new addition to the roster) arrived to the first game with a box of Golden Boy pizza in his hand. Emma was immediately drawn to his charismatic personality, goofy energy, and very quickly afterwards his dodgeball prowess. She texted her friend Rachel Beuchler that night stating, “I kinda wanna marry Daniel.” After a couple of dodgeball games and some post game banter at Northstar, Daniel asked Emma out on their first date (and it wasn’t just to get more playing time). Their first date, on February 16, 2020, was a bike ride though Golden Gate Park to a picnic at Ocean Beach that then extended to BBQ Ribs at 4505. After a few more dates, Covid hit and the two were quarantining in separate cities, Daniel in SF and Emma in LA. During the second week of quarantine, Emma convinced her parents she needed to make a weekend trip to San Francisco to "gather her CPA textbooks". It turns out her textbooks were digital and it was a ploy to see Daniel. They spent that weekend watching the sunrise and sunset from Twin Peaks, cooking pancakes, building forts, and falling in love. The next few years were filled with exploring beaches, tall boys in the park, quiet wooded escapes, and good wind for kites. Four years to the date of Daniel asking Emma to be his girlfriend at Chrissy Field, he surprised her with the proposal of her dreams at a Mount Tam sunset overlooking the city they fell in love in. Our adventures have since extended beyond SF with a few months living across the Atlantic in London and a cross country move to our new home in New York. We are so excited to host you and celebrate the start of our marriage in Emma's hometown, a place that is near and dear to our hearts. See you in September!
