An authorized airport taxi will be the best way to get to your hotel or Airbnb. There are official booths where you can buy a ticket for a taxi. You can find more info here https://www.mexico-airport.com/taxi.php
Yes. But, most of the tourist activities are centrally located and we've specifically chosen our wedding venue to be very close to where you will be staying, dining, and adventuring. Other than Casa Azul (Frida Khalo home/museum) all of the activities we've recommended shouldn't take you longer than 30 minutes to get to by Uber.
There are a lot of taxis in Mexico City and most are safe but, there are many that are unregistered/unofficial so we cannot guarantee that you will be getting into a safe vehicle (besides the official taxi kiosks at the airport). To avoid complications, do not use public transit either. We highly recommend only using Uber to get around the city. Beat app is another rideshare option that only has electric vehicles in its' fleet.
No, unlike popular beach destinations you will need to use Mexican pesos. You can exchange for pesos before your trip or use an ATM like BBVA or Santander at the airport or near your hotel. The hotel staff should know where the nearest ATM is. If you are in a crunch, in most cases you can use your credit card. You can check with your credit card company to see what the conversion charge is.
Do not drink tap water. Your hotel will probably supply you with a couple of water bottles and you can buy more from a convenience store (OXXO) nearby. No need to worry about it when you are eating out; when you order water at a bar or restaurant it will be filtered and safe to drink.
Yes and no. During the day temperatures will be in the mid 70s and then at night it might drop down as low as 45 degrees. So, be prepared with layers. The wedding reception will be indoors so you won't need to bundle up during that!
Well... depends on what your interests are! There really is something for everyone. We recommend visiting the historic center, a museum (Casa Azul or the Anthropology museum), Chapultepec park/castle and spending the rest of the time eating and drinking :) but that's just us.
Yes! I have a lot! Google maps is also a great way to search for amazing places to eat nearby. There are so many places to go it's difficult to have a bad meal, just depends on what you are feeling! If we haven't sent it to you yet, ask Christian or Sofia for the list of recommendations.
If there are popular restaurants you definitely want to visit, I would! For activities, if you plan to visit Casa Azul I would make reservations as soon as possible. https://www.boletosfridakahlo.org/eventperformances.asp?evt=123
Not for the wedding but in Ubers, taxis and some public places, it is a common courtesy. I would bring a couple to have on hand but it technically isn't required anymore.
Friday welcome drinks are casual. Whatever you would wear out to a bar or dinner is great! For the wedding most people will be in suits (with tie) and midi or floor length dresses. Overall, whatever you feel best in!
Uber is best! This is the address you should get dropped off at: Observatorio, Miguel Hidalgo, 11860 Ciudad de Mexico, CDMX It will drop you off in the back entrance where there is a parking lot.
On Friday we will be having welcome drinks at Taverna (Calle Gral. Prim, 34). It is split into two timeslots because of max capacity. The first timeslot is 5-7 PM and the second is 7-9 PM. Ask Sofia or Christian if you aren't sure which one to come to! If you are around Sunday we'll be doing brunch at Hotel Parque Mexico around noon! Other than that we'll be resting up for the big day!
