In their single lives, mutual friends Kailey & Derrick Ponkauskas had attempted to set Jacque up with Patrick. It worked out real well until Patrick invited Jacque to his house for a perfectly grilled steak. She then pretended to be sick and eventually stopped responding to Patrick’s messages. Fast forward about a year when they had both been at Sneakers Bar & Grill to celebrate Kailey’s birthday. In that moment Jacque knew she had made a mistake ignoring Patrick, so she proceeded to heckle Patrick about his facial hair & salmon colored shorts. Instead of making a move at that time, Jacque found it best to ignore Patrick again until she later found him on a dating site. She had sent Patrick a message and he had politely ignored her, so she proceeded to find him on another dating site and message him again. Patrick stayed strong and continued to ignore Jacque until she messaged him also on Instagram and he caved. They then talked for several weeks before they planned their first date to Drafthouse. Now it was time for the date, but both Patrick and Jacque had worked 12 hour shifts at that time. Jacque kept sending messages telling Patrick that she would be okay rescheduling if that’s what he would like to do, and Patrick returned the messages stating something similar. Neither one, being fairly stubborn, chose to make a decision so they met up for their date. Poor Patrick was only able to get a few words out here and there as Jacque was constantly talking. The date was successful and they planned another date to cascade mountain with two close friends a few days later. Fast forward many years when both Patrick and Jacque were sharing the story of how they met and they disclosed that they were both trying to get one another to cancel their first date.

They were on their 2nd date with close friends at Cascade Mountain. Prior to the date, Jacque had mentioned to her friend, Kortney, that she often caught Patrick staring at her and smiling. She had thought this was a little strange, but Kortney reassured her that she should she continue with the date as planned. During the date, Patrick was attempting to teach Jacque how to snowboard. All was going well until he decided to film her coming down the slope and she fell forward scorpion-ing her legs over her back and head. After many laughs, injuries and bruised egos it was time to put the boards up for the night. Prior to leaving, Patrick had asked Jacque to be exclusive… and so it began! Patrick had asked Jacque to be exclusive with him.

While celebrating their anniversary and past accomplishments in Miami, Patrick had reserved a table at Smith and Wollensky steak house. The food and service were both amazing with a complimentary slice of delicious chocolate cake. After dinner, they had decided to walk the 1.5 miles board walk back to the hotel. At one point Patrick had spotted a bathroom and ran off towards it while leaving Jacque behind. She had quickly followed him as she did not want to sit out by herself, but he kept insisting she was okay to stay where she was. Jacque did not want to be stollen in Miami, so she followed Patrick. In a short amount of time they were continuing on the board walk when Patrick got down on one knee, pulled a velvet box out of his sock and proposed with Jacque’s grandmothers ring. In hind sight, Jacque was supposed to stay where she was as Patrick was going towards the bathroom to have someone film the proposal for them. She would not have been stolen. However, the moment continued to be very special.
