Airports Near South Bend

South Bend International Airport (SBN): This is the closest airport to Notre Dame, located just a short drive away. It offers connections to major cities. We recommend checking for direct flights here first. However, as a smaller airport, flights may be limited and more expensive than flights to Chicago. SBN is in the Eastern time zone. Chicago O'Hare International Airport (ORD): Located about a 2-hour drive west of Notre Dame, O'Hare is a major hub with numerous flight options. If you fly into O'Hare, you will need to rent a car, or take a train the rest of the way to South Bend. ORD is in the Central time zone. Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW): Also located in Chicago, this airport is about a 2 hour drive from Notre Dame. This airport is where Southwest flies to in Chicago. MDW is in the Central time zone.

The Morris Inn is located on The University of Notre Dame campus, and is approximately a 10 minute walk from both the Basilica of the Sacred Heart and Corbett Family Hall (where the ceremony and reception will be taking place).

Travel Note

Driving & Buses

Driving: Notre Dame is easily accessible by car via the Indiana Toll Road (I-80/90). For GPS directions, use the address of your hotel or the University of Notre Dame (Notre Dame, IN 46556). Bus: Bus services like Coach USA have routes to Notre Dame from the Chicago airports. Please visit the link to see options for your preferred route.

Train

Amtrak

South Bend is served by Amtrak's Lake Shore Limited line out of Moynihan Train Hall at Penn Station in New York City. This route also has stops along the Great Lakes in New York, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois.

The South Shore Line operates out of Millennium Station in Chicago and travels to South Bend with extensive daily service.

Rental car services are available at South Bend International Airport and in the surrounding area. We recommend booking in advance, especially during the summer months. Ride-sharing services like Uber and Lyft are available in South Bend and Notre Dame. However, availability may vary, so plan accordingly.
