it's about damn time

It all started with a trip to see The Greatest Showman. Not wanting to go alone, Jess decided to ask some friends to see if anyone would go with her. Every other person in the room had seen it, and Conor was the last one standing. It was a date (but don't call it a date). After the movie, in an attempt to be clever Conor remarked, "The movie wasn't bad but the company could've been better." Moments later he found himself (justifiably) shoved into a snowbank. Whether it was an act of God or simply out of her infinite patience Jess didn't give up on him. Soon after there were numerous study dates which quickly devolved into Conor demonstrating the breadth of his pointless trivia knowledge via quizzes such as "Can you Name all 151 Original Pokemon?" Even through all of this, Jess still saw something. There was also the time Conor and Jess both had the flu. Over text they commiserated about how good soup sounded. Conor decided to take matters into his own hands and made plans to go to Panera. He also offered a simple invitation to Jess: "Would you like to come with me?" The problem: he didn't realize it was Valentine's Day. Even worse, he had borrowed a friend's car and they had to cut their "date" short to return it so his friend could go on an actual Valentine's date (sorry Sean). After these and many other false starts Conor and Jess finally made it official on March 10, 2018. Even after graduating a year ahead, Jess and Conor stayed together. Conor managed to land a job in Austin and followed Jess down to Texas in 2019. From there, Conor and Jess navigated many challenges, including a global pandemic and moving across the country. Twice! Each stop added memories to their story. Austin gave them a love of roller skating and barbecue. Seattle introduced them to D&D and taught them how much they needed sunshine. Staten Island brought friends, family, and good food. On August 06, 2024 Conor proposed to Jess on the shore of Saint Mary's Lake in Notre Dame. Finally, on June 27, 2026 Conor and Jess will get married in the place where it all began nearly 8 years ago. It's About Damn Time.
