In February 2019, both Megan and Conor ventured out on the town to celebrate their friends’ birthdays. They met at Mother's Too, a piano bar on Division Street, and immediately gravitated towards one another. Conor bet Megan a drink on him if she could spell his name right, a ‘pickup line’ that he will never live down. They chatted the night away, eventually exchanging information in hopes that a reunion would be a fast follow. The next day, Conor asked Megan on a date to Ranalli's on Lincoln Ave. Little did they know, it would become one of their most visited Chicago staples, and only the beginning of the rest of their lives together. They spent everyday together the following week, quickly discovering their shared ties to Michigan – Megan being raised in Holland and Conor attending Michigan State. The connection continued to grow as they made countless visits to Michigan, especially Saugatuck. We are so excited to celebrate our marriage in a town that feels like home, with all of the people that mean the most to us.

Megan decided that a fitting way to celebrate Conor's 29th birthday would be to trade the lingering cold in Chicago for a weekend in Miami. She had no idea that once the Friday birthday was sufficiently celebrated, Conor had plans to ask Megan one very important question the following day. Feeling freshly 29 and with the love of his life, Conor woke up on Saturday knowing that today was the big day. After a day on the beach, Conor let Megan know their local dinner plans had transitioned to a sunset picnic on Brickell Key, about a 25 minute drive away. To Megan’s confusion, she decided to roll with it, not picking up on any signs of what was to come. With a ring in his pocket and the makings of a plan in his head, Conor sat nervously in the ride to the park on Brickell Key where he would soon ask the most important question of his life. They set up a picnic blanket on the oceanfront park and Conor got down on one knee as the sun began to set. The newly engaged and ecstatic couple sat laughing and crying, reminiscing their love story, and soaking in the moment just the two of them.
