Conor is from Dorchester and Katie is from Southie, a tale as old as time, and a tradition both of our parents followed. Katie grew up attending Saint Brigid School and Church, while Conor grew up in Dorchester (claiming to be Italian… supposedly). So it only felt right to say “I do” at Saint Brigid’s in Southie, followed by a celebration at Venezia in Dorchester with our family, friends, and a view of the city where it all began.
We first crossed paths at a high school party, thanks to a little secret passed along by Katie’s best friend, Bridget: Conor thought Katie was pretty. Naturally, Katie made the first move—striking up a conversation and giving him her number. From that night on, we stayed in each other’s lives, always sharing a soft spot for one another. Even as life took us in different directions, we never lost touch. During Katie’s senior year, we found our way back to each other and fell in love in the way we always somehow knew we would. Conor’s sister-in-law, Christina, lovingly reminds us that Conor once told her—and his mom—that he always knew Katie would be the one. That blessing means more to us than words can say. After years of friendship and keeping each other close, it was our friend Meave who finally snapped us into reality. One night at Murphy’s, she asked, “Why the hell aren’t you two dating?” She said it was obvious how much we loved each other. The next morning, over coffee, we made it official—and the rest felt like it had been written all along.
Katie had teased Conor for a while about the ring. Sometimes saying she wanted a private moment, other times insisting everyone should be there. Boston? Newport? A vacation? Conor had a lot to decipher, and he planned it perfectly. On a weekend that means the world to Katie’s family, when we honor Katie’s late brother Stevie, her sisters roped her into grabbing an espresso martini in the Seaport (twist her arm). Allie told Katie they were meeting friends from California who were taking pictures by the water. The skyline, the city lights, it was a spot where Conor and Katie had spent summer nights, going for runs and date nights by the fire. Katie even said, “That’s so funny, Conor and I love it here,” without thinking anything of it. Becky hyped up her outfit and told her to get a photo facing the city. And then the flashes started. Katie turned around, and there was Conor, on one knee. Behind him was our dear friend Courtney, capturing the moment we’ll treasure forever. The love of Katie’s life asking her to be his wife.
On New Year’s Eve, 2026, we will ring in the new year exchanging rings as husband and wife, celebrating a love that has lasted for years and will last for a lifetime. We cannot wait to celebrate with all of you, ring in the new year and the start of our forever.
