The Urban Wine Trail refers to about 28 tasting rooms located within just a couple blocks from each other in the downtown area. It’s not only an excellent way to try the spectacular wines that this area is known for, but it’s a treat to get to know what defines this interesting and beautiful city.
Santa Barbara golf courses range from greens to blues, hillsides to countrysides. It only makes sense that The American Riviera® possesses some of the most incredible golf courses in the country. Santa Barbara offers six public 18-hole courses, four of which are a short drive from downtown Santa Barbara. There are also several nine-hole golf courses that include practice facilities. From the rolling greens of Glen Annie Golf Club to Sandpiper Golf Course, which is just within earshot of the crashing surf, golfing in Santa Barbara is always a memorable experience.
The Funk Zone is a unique Santa Barbara arts, culture, business, and industrial district between State Street and Garden Street, and Montecito Street to Cabrillo Boulevard. This amalgamation of historical marine structures, industrial lots, and houses has a unique history in manufacturing, lumber, citrus, produce, and fishing. Over the years, many artists have found creative freedom by carving out studio spaces in this “funky” area of Santa Barbara, and so have wineries, restaurants, art galleries, and shops.

We love to take Marley here to run around on the sand. Arroyo Burro Beach, or Hendry's Beach, is great because of its mild surf and proximity to local parks. Here, popular activities include bodyboarding, fishing, stand-up paddleboarding, surfing and swimming. Visitors also enjoy taking walks along the coastline and sunbathing. Off the beach, we recommend visiting the Douglas Family Preserve (named for actor Kirk Douglas' family) which features some of the most pristine terrain in the area. The 70-acre reserve is an undeveloped park with a variety of trails that offer beautiful ocean and beach views. It’s also a great spot for watching local marine life such as dolphins and whales. At the Boathouse, you can grab a cocktail to wander along the beach or have an incredible meal in their dining room.
