Their story begins as most do, in a small town known for its vibrant culture, shared last names, and a very unique interpretation of the English language, Harpers Ferry, West Virginia. Connor was on day two of a bachelor party when the group decided it was time to leave the Airbnb and see what the town had to offer. Nicole, meanwhile, had driven in from Washington, DC for a birthday party being held at a small brewery perched along the Potomac River. Inevitably, the bachelor party found its way to that very same brewery. One particularly confident member of the bachelor party approached Nicole’s group of friends and demanded to know which ladies were single. Once identified, Nicole stood out immediately, not only because she was single, but because she was a proud member of the Tribe. The confident party member then gestured dramatically up a hill toward Connor and the rest of the bachelor party, who were simply trying to enjoy each other’s company, and encouraged Nicole to choose her man. Without hesitation, Nicole replied, “That tall, jacked guy with a full head of hair is kind of cute.” When she learned that Connor was also a member of the same Tribe, there was absolutely no going back. Numbers were exchanged, and just one month later Nicole was flying to San Diego to visit Connor, the first of many trips to come. Long distance required a lot of travel, between trips back and forth from DC and San Diego, they somehow squeezed in New York, Maine, Montana, Wilmington NC, and just about all of Florida. Nicole even visited Connor on the front lines while he was deployed in Okinawa, Japan! Connor received orders to Pensacola, Florida, and the two decided it was time to close the gap for good. With Nicole able to work remotely, there was no excuse not to follow Connor south. Connor bought his first house and very successfully had half his mortgage paid by his tenant (Nicole). While living together, a true Chrismukkah miracle occurred, Nicole was pregnant! The best surprise they could have asked for. Shortly thereafter, the couple ran to the courthouse to make an honest woman out of Nicole…and then, a few months later, Connor proposed. (Yes, all in that order.) Their lives changed in the best way when baby Camdyn was born on September 12th, 2025. Now their days are filled with diapers, walks, and desperately trying to keep Phoenix’s barking from waking Cam during her increasingly short daytime naps. So while this celebration may be a little delayed, wildly out of order, and well past due, we can’t wait to finally celebrate our very untraditional love story with all of you!
