Things To Do

Located at the base of the Appalachians, there's lots to do in the area if you're spending more than a day in Gainesville!

Elachee Nature Science Center

2125 Elachee Drive, Gainesville, GA 30504
, (770) 535-1976

This is where the party will be held, but if you want to wander out there before or after, the nature center offers hiking trails, a museum, and live animal exhibit. Great for any and all ages!

Dahlonega

Dahlonega, GA 30533

This mountain town offers lots of quaint shops and restaurants. It's the town Connor was born in, about a 30 minute drive from Gainesville!

Appalachian Outfitters - Canoeing and Kayaking

2084 South Chestatee, Dahlonega, GA 30533
, (706) 864-7117

If you're looking for a calmer and closer river trip you can do on your own, this is a lovely outfitter with rentals about 20-30 minutes away from Gainesville. The Timpone family has run this river many times and it's highly recommended!

Lake Lanier

GA

Lake Lanier is the largest reservoir east of the Mississippi, and Gainesville is located right on it! There are endless options of activities to do on or around the lake, from state/community parks to renting boats of all kinds.

Blood Mountain

GA 30512

An iconic, rigorous hike for anyone in the area! Park at the Byron Reece Trail Head and take a blue blazed trail up to the Appalachian Trial to get to the top of Blood Mountain. It's about 5 miles and a local favorite!

Preacher's Rock

Cleveland, GA 30528

Another iconic hike in the Northeast Georgia Mountains that Connor has hiked up and down more times than she can count! This trail is about 2 miles round trip and offers a view of the surrounding area at the top. Again you'll be on the Appalachian Trail.

Atlanta

Atlanta, GA

Atlanta is right down the road with a plethora of things to do! Museums, shows, sports, green spaces, restaurants. . . it's all there and more!
