Pitlochry is what you think of when you imagine Scotland. It is a culmination of small town charm and old country architecture. The people are lovely and the vibe is content. If you find a more lovely place on Earth, please do let us know. We recommend the gin and tonics from the Old Mill Inn Bar and Restaurant!
Think Game of Thrones, Hogwarts, and long note played on a violin, then go experience this castle for yourselves. Atop this giant on a hill, amongst the acres of castle sits a six by eight foot hut - the oldest building in Scotland. Every stone in this castle sweats something that makes you wish to be more Scottish.
Just down the road from Edinburgh Castle, this black and red church has a commanding presence. It looms over Victoria Street, which was the inspiration for Diagon Alley in the Harry Potter movies.
If you eat at this restaurant every day you are in Edinburgh, you'll still likely leave thinking you didn't go enough. It's Michelin Star rated and is cheaper than getting McDonald's on Doordash. We'd hate to spoil the experience, so please do try it for yourselves.
Take a Haunted Mansion style ride through the history of Scottish Whisky (no e before the y in Scotland), then walk through corridors of illuminated whisky bottles, old and new, from all over the country. A great way to educate your palette on the types of whisky you prefer.
Smack in the middle of Edinburgh, we ran down the hill from our AirBnB to experience a proper Scotch Egg and a Mash Potato Flight, then crawled back up the hill to sleep. If you're looking for a light dinner before a charming walk, choose somewhere else. Choose somewhere else and have a lesser experience.
